The aim of the forums are for practitioners to share their knowledge and skills with their colleagues in order to promote good practice that is taking place within the school. • Practitioners select an idea , lesson, system or strategy that works well within their classroom. • They document a summarised version of the key information onto this sheet. • They present their idea, usually in 2 minutes or 5 minutes. • These sheets are passed out as a hand-out to their colleagues so they can review the summarised information, follow up on some ideas themselves and know who to contact to find out further information. Browsing Fortnight is an easy and effective method of encouraging peer observation in a non-threatening way. The rules of Browsing Fortnight are explain in the pack, but it basically consists of teachers observing 3 colleagues each term and reflecting on what they have learnt. I created these late slips that can be issued to the learners who decide to arrive late to class, saves on the disruption it causes to you and the rest of the class. I used to collect in the slips at the end of the lesson or when the class was completing activities. Embeds both English and Maths skills, hopefully having to fill one of these in everytime will encourage them to be on time to class!

Learners are asked to think about what they have learnt in the lesson and write down how they link with English, Maths, Employability, Equality & Diversity & British Values. Allows the learners to identify where these areas have been promoted and understand how they can be applied to any subject being taught, gets the learners to think in a wider range. Subjects can be taken out for the activity depending on the topics being taught.

I designed this activity for Level 2 BTEC learners, getting them use to the command words found in their assignments. Links with embedding English as they will use a dictionary to search for the definitions of each word. The tasks can support the learners understanding of each command word and put them into practice. Can be adapted for any Level and extra assignment tips can be added.

The idea of the display is to encourage students to change their vocabulary. The display is firmly based on the work of Carol Dweck and the idea of fixed and growth mindsets. The display is based on famous individuals who had growth mindsets and using their vocabulary to enhance the learning of the students and to encourage them to put in effort and to try. To be made clear, during close reading sessions, it is possible that instructors may get what is called a “false positive” or indication that a student understands a concept of the text when they actually do not. **False Positive Prevention Method - ** occurs when students are able to write about and discuss a text with some accuracy after gleaning an understanding of a text from what teachers and peers says about the text, NOT from their own understanding about the text. This is a professional, well put together booklet for learners to fill out during a lesson. Each session learners are to give themselves an objective and state what they plan to achieve. The booklet has an example, some ideas of what they could write and words they could use. This document gives learners a target as well as stretch and challenge tasks. This booklet will also show progression over 1 to 36 weeks. It is to the point and easy to fill in. I use this for a particular group of Carpentry learners that do not have a training booklet or any other proof of progression. Ideal for OFSTED and observations.

Simply put, a behavior contract pairs positive behaviors that you would like to see your student perform with rewards that he or she can obtain when they engage in the positive behavior. A few tips on implementation: The positive behavior listed on the behavior contract should take the place of a negative behavior being exhibited by your student, and be stated in positive, goal-oriented terms. For example, a replacement behavior for students who have difficulties talking out of turn could be “I will raise my hand when I need to say something” instead of “I will not talk out of turn.” A replacement behavior for a student who engages in aggressive behaviors towards his or her peers could be “I will keep my hands to myself” instead of “I will not hit or pinch others.” Although the teacher should decide which specific behaviors to select for the behavior contract, allowing your student to offer his or her input regarding the rewards established by the contract will make the student more likely to abide by the terms of the behavior contract. If students do not abide by the terms in the contract, it could be that they did not play a big enough role in the creation of it. Picking an individualized reinforcement that incentivizes your student to engage in appropriate behaviors is key. A reinforcement survey, which can be purchased for $1.00 in my shop, is often helpful to determine what is most reinforcing for each of your students. Allow your students to color a single picture or move objects along a path each time they engage in the predetermined appropriate behavior. Every child will react differently to reward systems. Some children need very little incentive to perform appropriate behaviors, while others will need rewards delivered at a very frequent rate in order to alter maladaptive behaviors. When the latter is the case, teachers can alter the contract terms to make the goals easier to obtain. By doing this, students can obtain their rewards at a faster, more frequent rate. Once they demonstrate that they can consistently engage in the appropriate behavior, teachers can gradually increase the complexity of the replacement behavior or reduce the rate of reward delivery. ► Terms of Use ◄ This artwork is copyrighted by Roots To Growth. Attached is a health and safety form that I make all of my DT staff read and sign. It is the principle document along with CLEAAPS information that is asked for by Ofsted upon arrival. When they ask the question 'Are all members of the department consistent in understanding the H&S requirements within their subjects/department?. I can then say confidently YES and I know this because its signed.

The full set of 3 completed, exemplar assessments for the NPQH course, along with my notes for the face to face assessment. I successfully passed all three stages and achieved the award. I have zipped the assessments and added my presentation notes as a guide to the quality of the whole package. These forms represents HOURS of blood sweat and tears! There was literally nothing out there when i was completing the course! This was submitted in June 2018 It will give you an idea of what to write and how much for each of the competencies. I made this fun summer challenge for the children to encourage they to spend as little time infornt of the TV/Ipad screen as possible over the summer. The challenge consists of a number of fun outdoor challenges for them to complete and collect evidence to shown me when school starts again. Easily adapted to fit any age group.
