A detailed key stage 4 biology activity sheet. Lesson title: inheritance. This document follows on from the activity sheet for the 'Structure of DNA' lesson (lesson 4). This version still contains 30 unique genomes, but in this case, the nucleotide sequences are already filled out and the sheets contain cut-lines between the two sets of alleles. In a process akin to meiosis, the students cut along the cut lines and swap the halves with a fellow student. The halves must fit together (like a jig-saw). The genotypes and phenotypes are then re-evaluated and significant variation emerges. In particular, recessive characteristics are highly likely, whereas recessive characteristics where never expressed on the original genomes. This document should be used in conjunction with the related lesson presentation, lesson plan, activity sheet and computer model files, which are also available for download. Detailed teacher's notes and homework activity sheets are also available. Any videos referenced in this document are not available for download but can be provided on request.
