An engaging interactive power-point quiz which covers the various types of technology used in business today. Learners can work in groups to identify the types of technology in the picture clues. They will also face the challenge of explaining the advantages and disadvantages of using each type of technology. Can be used as an active learning task or for reinforcement of subject knowledge. Complements the new AQA GCSE in Business Studies- Influences on Business (technology); but can be used as part of any lesson related to technology.

This is a space-based KS2, KS3, GCSE matchup activity. Pupils consider and then rank relative altitudes of Earth features, satellites (natural & artificial) & stars. Pupils will match up and order the images, numbers and written information about each object. A good real life ordering task or use as a prompt to introduce scale and scale models. Includes plenty of information to inspire as well as aspects to prompt questions and thinking skills. As well as math and space science, can also be used as a literacy resource. Tried and tested in the classroom with various groups and ages (Yr5, Yr7, Yr8, Yr9 PGCE students). Charging the cost of something to your phone bill or pay-as-you-go credit is a popular way to pay. This lesson will make young people aware that it is possible to spend money through a smartphone, how this can happen and how to use these services responsibly. This lesson was created by us, the Phone-paid Services Authority. We are the UK regulator for content, goods and services charged to a phone bill or pay-as-you-go credit. They include directory enquiries, voting on TV talent shows, donating to charity by text or downloading apps on your mobile phone. Lesson Objectives • To understand that it is possible to spend real money through a smartphone • To identify situations that will cost real money and those that will not • To understand what to do in these situations and where to get help and advice Target audience 8 - 11 year olds

Energy Use at Home and at School

Students complete a classroom audit and explain how appliances are used in their homes and classroom each day. They will represent data with objects and drawings where one object or drawing represents one data value. Students will understand how people use science in their daily lives, including when caring for their environment and living things. Students wil be able to classify a range of everyday appliances in terms of their energy usage and record and tally items around the classroom and at home.

Kirchhoff's whispers (a circuit building game)

Put pupils into 6 groups at 6 stations round the room. Pupils are given a card with a circuit diagram on it, they must build the diagram and then flip over the card. At the next station, they have to draw the circuit diagram and then take apart the circuits. At the next station they have to build the circuit based on the diagram they see, then throw away the diagram. They game continues for as long as you want it to! This assesses and develops their circuit building and drawing skills. It also shows them why it's so important to draw circuit diagrams carefully. I've printed this double sided, then laminated so that they can draw the circuit on the back in whiteboard pen. Enjoy! Please review!

The Industrial Revolution

A simple website research/inquiring challenge - students use the Ducksters website to help answer the questions. First I introduced the topic of the Industrial Revolution (Our unit of study is on Technology so I felt this is an era of history that needs to be taught as it changed our World). I had my class (Grade 3) do this using one Chrome book between 2 but it would work just as well as an individual research activity. The questions were written to not only improve reading skills, but also encourage some deeper thinking of the impact of this significant era in history.

I use this as a poster or print out activity in a carpentry and Joinery/ woodwork workshop. This really embeds spelling and grammar in practical sessions. Learners highlight the wrongly spelt words as well as learning key carpentry terms.
