These slides and hand out are designed to support the delivery of the Component One topic of the marketing mix and the product. They explain what is meant by product, product portfolio, brand, USPs and differentiation before evaluating the importance of having the right product for a firm and their stakeholders. The slides analyse the role of the product life cycle and the Boston matrix and evaluate the impact of extension strategies on a business and how the Boston matrix can be used in the management of a firm's product portfolio. The slides contain the Quick Fire Five questions and also a practice essay (all with suggested solutions). In addition to the main PowerPoint a PDF copy of the notes has been provided to assist with pupil hand outs.
