Maths Revision Sat KS2 Year6

Maths Revision Sat KS2 Year6

This Maths revision resource is designed to prepare children in the run up to the National Curriculum SATs tests before school assessments. The packs includes 5 days worth of 25 questions that target key areas of the Mathematics curriculum. Each day is designed to last ten minutes and comprises both arithmetic and reasoning problems. Equally, it would be useful for booster sessions when there is limited time in the run up to the national tests.

Construction and 3D Shape

Construction and 3D Shape

In this presentation you will find the following Learning Objectives: Draw triangles and quadrilateral using a ruler and protractor. Use and construct a scale drawing. Know various 3D shapes and their names. Count vertices, faces and ages of a 3D Shape. Use isometric paper to draw 3D shapes. Find the surface area using nets. Must of the lessons have a practice that can be printed for your students. I hope you find this lesson useful.

KS2 SATs Maths Reasoning Practice Paper 2 (STA-style formatting)

KS2 SATs Maths Reasoning Practice Paper 2 (STA-style formatting)

Something to help your class / school / child to practise for the KS2 (Key Stage Two) SATs for mathematics, especially reasoning - can be used alongside a 2017 Gaps Analysis spreadsheet as questions follow the 2017 Paper precisely. The paper is also formatted similarly to the STA’s formatting to allow children to become familiar and confident in approaching assessment / testing.

Standard Form Reasoning Tasks

Standard Form Reasoning Tasks

Several tasks all based an Edexcel GCSE question (from the specimen papers) about standard form and substitution. These tasks are designed to improve students’ mathematical reasoning and were created as part of the Mathematical Reasoning at GCSE project run by Cambridge Maths Hub. The tasks vary in difficulty, and include work on ratio, surface area and volume of spheres, units of compound measures, density and direct/inverse proportion. They are not intended to be used all together; just pick and choose one or two suitable ones for your class. The Venn diagram task is an excellent idea I swiped from the amazing Mr Barton. If you’re after a similar task that focuses more explicitly on surface area, volume and density, you might like https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/density-and-volume-reasoning-tasks-11837600. Please consider leaving some feedback. I’d be really interested to hear which tasks you chose and how you used them!

Geometry Rocks! - Book on properties of 2D and 3D shapes

Geometry Rocks! - Book on properties of 2D and 3D shapes

‘Geometry Rocks’ is a book that I created to help secondary school pupils understand the different properties of 2D and 3D shapes. This book is designed for pupils of all abilities with the content ranging from fundamental properties of basic polygons up to the higher level content involving surface areas and volumes. I hope it proves beneficial.

Density and Volume Reasoning Tasks

Density and Volume Reasoning Tasks

Several tasks all based on an Edexcel GCSE question about density. These tasks are designed to improve students’ mathematical reasoning and were created as part of the Mathematical Reasoning at GCSE project run by Cambridge Maths Hub. The tasks vary in difficulty, and include work on proportional reasoning, value for money, unit conversions, volume, surface area and density. They are not intended to be used all together; just pick and choose one or two suitable ones for your class. Full credit to the awesome Mr Barton for the Venn diagram template. If you are after similar tasks on other compound measures, you might like https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/standard-form-reasoning-tasks-11839225 which is based on calculating surface gravity (with some density questions) and https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/speed-and-fuel-economy-reasoning-tasks-11837737 which explores speed and fuel economy. All feedback very welcome. I’d be really interested to hear which tasks you chose and how you used them!
