Leprechaun Craft :: St. Patrick’s Day

Leprechauns! Leprechauns! A creative way to decorate your classroom for St. Patrick’s Day. Leprechauns hanging from the ceiling or sitting on the shelf, your kiddos will love creating and putting on their own personal touches on these cuties. These Leprechaun crafts are great for developing fine motor skills such as: folding, coloring, painting, gluing, cutting, listening, paying attention to details and following directions. These units are designed in a Mix and Match format. You are able to pick the pieces that you want, depending on the needs and the abilities of your students. There are so many different possibilities. Each Leprechaun creation is designed with a printed templates. Before we start the creation process, I have my older kiddos research and write facts they have found about Leprechauns on the back of the beard and on the legs. With my Kindies, we write keys and simple sentences on the back of the legs and the hat strips. Paper lanterns are great for developing fine motor skills such as: folding, coloring, painting, gluing, cutting, listening and following directions. These units are designed in a Mix and Match format. You are able to pick the pieces that you want, depending on the needs and the abilities of your students. There are so many different possibilities. Each Leprechaun lantern creation is designed with a printed lantern template and a blank template. Blank templates are intended for your kids to come up with their own designs or you can have your kids color, cut out and glue on the Leprechaun faces. Before we start the lantern creation phase, I have my older kiddos research and write facts they have found about Leprechauns on the back of the lantern, on the arms and the legs. With my Kindies, we will write keys and simple sentences on the back of the legs and arms. So many ways to create the Leprechaun paper lanterns using glitter, paper layering, leaves, shredded paper, cotton pieces, tissue paper... Make sure to add the Leprechaun legs and arms…too cute! The Learning Olympics - 4 sessions on learning to learn

Aimed at Years 5 - 7, this is perfect for an induction day or simply to develop students' learning skills. This 4 session unit uses the theme of the Olympics to introduce them to Guy Claxton's Building Learning Power attributes: being resilient, resourceful, receptive, and reflective. Students complete a number of activities to build their 'learning muscles', the aim being to become a champion learner.
