Great for inspiring reluctant writers or filling a few hours in your class with fun yet challenging learning activities. A complete, engaging, imaginative, creative writing or Big Writing stimuli lesson that can be applied to many different writing genres.
Children discuss ideas and then plan by answering the thought provoking questions which enable a wealth of ideas to be generated. Planning sheet has space for 5 sense descriptions, VCOP elements and purpose, audience and genre notes to help meet the new 2014 curriculum. Starter activity plus 2 widths of line guides/writing sheets included plus optional paragraph planning sheet, custom art sheet and self-assessment plenary activity mean that this lesson's length is flexible and could easily last for 2 hours if you wanted it to and comes with 3 different options in the teachers' notes for delivery over 1,2 or 3 lessons.
Lesson is aimed at KS2 but can be used for more able KS1, or KS3 as it is differentiated by outcome.
I made this resource for my Year 1/2 class for a quick oral mental in looking at coordinates, simply click on the squares and they disappear. If you want to start again just click on the 2nd page in the presentation and then back to the original and they should all reappear!
Children loved making pizzas at our Italian pizza class. Resources have been exported from an Activ-primary flip-chart. (Which also includes Italian Pizzeria style music.) Fun to play when the children are making their pizzas or working. If you would like original please message me.

These ‘Library Challenge’ cards were made for my class library, but they could be used in a school library as well. The idea was just to get the children excited about reading and properly engaged with the books, and they’ve really enjoyed working through the activities – an added bonus being that I use this work to decorate the walls of our library.
There’s a selection of 10 Library Challenge Cards, plus a ‘Library Challenge of the Week’ which just allows for changing things up a little without having to print and laminate more cards.
Three differentiated worksheets, suitable for Year 1 & 2 pupils.
1 - Storyboard sheet with pictures and lines underneath for able writers to write each part of the story.
2 - Storyboard sheet with pictures and parts of the story with gaps for pupils to fill in.
3 - Complete storyboard in the wrong order for less able pupils to cut out and sequence.
Line drawings of Wallace & Gromit's Cracking Contraptions for use with explanation texts. I traced these myself, from screen captures, for use with a Year 4 class, for them to annotate and label, for use with writing explanation texts.
