GCSE Speaking preparation

GCSE Speaking preparation

Inference grids to prepare pupils for photo cards/ independent speaking about a photo. Pupils are required to 1. label, 2. describe, 3. give an opinion on each picture. This is a bundle with 17 sets, but individual sets are also available on my account. Each file is covering different topics from the new AQA GCSE (from September 2016). The photo cards can be used across all languages. There are four photo cards on each topic. The topics in this bundle are: * family * relationships * free time * technology and social media * food and eating out * town * home * charity and voluntary work * poverty and homelessness * healthy living * holidays * tourism * working life * school * post-16 education * ambitions * environment (I also have a file on festivals and traditions in German-speaking countries, but it's only available as an individual set, not part of the bundle)

The Moral Dilemma Generator - [200 Slide PPT with 'Randomiser'] GERMAN VERSION

The Moral Dilemma Generator - [200 Slide PPT with 'Randomiser'] GERMAN VERSION

This resource has been translated from the English version with the author's (godwin86) position so that German teachers can foster moral debates in their classrooms. This is a great way to contribute towards SMSC education in your MFL classroom. The original English version can be found here:https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-p4c-the-moral-dilemma-generator-200-slide-ppt-with-randomiser-philosophy-for-kids-11381522Uses:-P4C (Philosophy for kids)-Form time activities-German lessons (KS4 & 5)-Debating societies-Making best use of spare time at the end of lessonsDiscussions follow one of four formats, each asking students to move from one side of the room or the other to make their position clear: teachers should then use questioning to foster a debate between students, encouraging them to present reasons for their choice and defend their position. The formats are:-"Which is more moral?" (students chose between two options)-"Agree or disagree?" (where students respond to a presented statement about morality of a moral issue)-"Who do you save?" (where students need to save one of two people/options, and justify the morality of their decision)-"Moral or immoral?" (where students cast their judgement on a given action, event or person. This resource is great value at £4.99 and cannot be found elsewhere:-It clearly contributes to the Moral aspect of your school's SMSC provision-It allows for countless hours of discussion and debate to be structured in a focussed and engaging manner.-It would take days to reproduce yourself.-It can save vast amounts of staff time in preparing cover lessons-It is the perfect way to make the most of any time a teacher might have left at the end of a lesson.-It deals with cross curricular issuesPlease note: this resource deals with controversial issues, debates and questions that may be deemed unsuitable for younger children. It is designed for secondary school students, but can be easily adapted to younger years with appropriate amendments by their teacher.

Schulstress muss nicht sein

Schulstress muss nicht sein

The source text deals with the topic of school stress and possible reasons and ways to deal with it. Pupils will be able to practice their reading skills. The text can be used to either introduce or revise 'wenn'-clauses. It can also be a basis for a discursive essay or group discussion. Please feed back. Thanks.

This sheet is really useful for planning essays and acts as a quick revision tool for vocabulary as well giving some facts, figures and current information relating to how poverty affects Germany today. This relates directly to the OCR A Level but can be used for other exam boards.

IBB Armut und Hunger - Patenschaften: Zeugnisse

IBB Armut und Hunger - Patenschaften: Zeugnisse

As we were discussing causes and consequences of 'Armut und Hunger in Entwicklungsländern' Pupils started to mention they were sponsoring Children. I subsequently found and used a variety of source texts about sponsorships, not least a forum debate, and also this - two testimonies from formerly sponsored children, now adults. I felt it would lend itself to some good language work and help our discussions and source of ideas in a subsequent essay they would have to write ( about the solutions to poverty and hunger in the third world). It is fairly easy for Standard Level , as the texts are short (but we had had others which were longer, and this was just part of what was done one lesson.)

Die Dritte Welt

Die Dritte Welt

A lesson which I taught following the earthquake in Haiti where students look at two different points of view as in the A2 speaking test. Could be used with a more recent natural disaster though.
