Coins Wordsearch Money Finance Business History Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Coins Wordsearch Money Finance Business History Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Wordsearch on the theme of 'Coins'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

How to Succeed In Business: Teaching Economics in Elementary and Middle School

How to Succeed In Business: Teaching Economics in Elementary and Middle School

$$$$$$$How to Succeed in Business$$$$$$$ This project is based on a successful school business: “Chapman’s Chips,” a six-week mini-course for gifted students, grades 4-6. Goals 1. Students involved in running a business providing a product or service for half an hour each day will be responsible for their specific jobs and will work together to make their business a success. Each student will be responsible for performing the job they chose and helping support other students who may have difficulty. 2. Students will have the opportunity to share their experience after working in groups or individually, varying the method of sharing, as well as keep a written, artistic, or recorded summary of their experience each day. Students’ reflections will be part of their portfolio, along with their job and job description, and any other artifacts they have.

Shoe Design Challenge Sheet

Shoe Design Challenge Sheet

I have run a shoe design challenge as a team building, business studies and enterprise topic. This sheet is for pupils to first design their trainer before pooling their team ideas on a larger A3 version. I have then given them a cheap plain white lace up gym shoe (small size and just 1 per group) to design a prototype with Sharpies they then market and advertise. Think Apprentice/Dragon's Den style. Product Design - Idea Generation, Sustainability and Target Market

Product Design - Idea Generation, Sustainability and Target Market

Pupils' love being creative with this hands-on project. Students are tasked with up-cycling a waste Coca-cola bottle to create a new product for a particular target market. In this series of lesson, students are introduced to the benefits of up-cycling in relation to impact on the environment/sustainability. They then draw their own semantic mind-map to come up with product ideas of their own (creative strategy) for a certain target market. They then apply one or more of their ideas as an initial sketch. Resources have clear success criteria and peer assessment. Lesson plan is also included for further clarity. Introduction (fertile question) Class discussion Semantic mind-map task Sketching.annotation Task Peer assessment Plenary/review Optional extension tasks (rapid-prototyping, dragons den style critique) Activities should be spread over 2 lessons If you enjoyed this lesson, please see the other lessons in this or other Product Design series/SOW (where the full iterative design process is covered). In this unit, pupils will gain an understanding into what is product design and the creative process of a designer in the industry.
