Year 3 and 4 comprehension - The Gunpowder Plot (Guy Fawkes/Bonfire/Fireworks Night)

This resource is a comprehension booklet aimed at Lower Key Stage 2 (7-9 yrs). The booklet tells the story of The Gunpowder Plot. There are three differentiated booklets. The higher booklet has two pages of information for the children to read before they complete 2 pages of 'what,' 'where,' 'when' and 'why' questions. This is a similar layout to KS2 SATs. The middle and lower ability booklets have the information split into separate pages with questions on each page, in a similar style to KS1 SATs. PDF file format and editable Microsoft word format.

KS1 Comprehension - Neil Armstrong

This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2 on the astronaut, Neil Armstrong. It is based on the KS1 SATs reading paper and includes 3 differentiated levels. There are a range of 'what' and 'when' and 'where' questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets, with four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 2-3 questions per page. PDF file format and editable Microsoft word format included in the price.

A collection of photos of the village of Grasmere in the Lake District. The village is a popular place for tourists, and is the former home and place where the poet William Wordsworth is buried. It is also famous for it's secret recipe gingerbread. Students may wish to use these photos as part of projects or presentations or to explore the village through pictures. Part of my Ms. Bie Ografee Talk Show Series. This biographical Reader's Theater Script is on John Chapman, better remembered as Johnny Appleseed. Chapman said of himself,“by occupation,(I was) a gatherer and planter of apple seeds”. This pioneer nurseryman helped to introduce apple trees to Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Unlike many people, John Chapman was an American hero, DURING his lifetime. He is know for his kindness toward other people and all living creatures, his efforts in conservation and the many apple trees he started during his life. There area 8 Audience Questioners in the complete resource. There are 12 Did You Know? fun facts about apples, 9 comprehension questions, a teacher page with 9 extension activities, the key and additional links of interest.
