European Day of Languages 2017 Tutor Time/Lesson Activity Presentation

European Day of Languages 2017 Tutor Time/Lesson Activity Presentation

Short and snappy presentation for a tutor time (20 mins) or possibly as a starter activity in an MFL or non-MFL lesson. This is an excellent way to promote and raise the profile of modern foreign languages in your school. The presentation features: - A 'hook' activity to get students to work out which languages are being use on the first slide. Goes beyond the typical classroom-taught languages such as Spanish, French, German etc. and includes Macedonian, Russian, Norwegian and others. - Has a short (5 question) quiz about the countries of Europe, the EU and micro nations. - Explores the concept of European micro nations and disputed territories such as Abkhazia and Transnistria. - Encourages class/group discussion and 'student thought' when thinking about micro nations and what makes a nation. - Finishes with a Christian prayer, perfect for CofE schools. - Includes links to videos which explain the concept of micro nations in a child-friendly way. - Includes a link to a website containing an interactive map where students have to name all of the (recognised) countries of Europe to complete the map. - Slides include footnotes to answer any questions the students may have and to suggest ways of delivering the material.

International Day of Peace Freebie

The International Day of Peace is held every year on September 21st. Also called Peace Day, the first celebration was adopted by the United Nations in 1982. It would be in 2001, that nations of the world established September 21st as International Day of Peace. In 2017, the theme for the International Day of Peace is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.” At the United Nations, in New York City, the Japanese Peace Bell is rung to start the day. Sub Reliever Teacher General Knowledge Quiz

Sub Reliever Teacher General Knowledge Quiz

This fun and engaging Game is huge with over 100 general knowledge questions including sport, music, math, movies and pop culture. The games shuffle ability assures that no two games are ever the same which means you can use the same resource in a lot more than once. Also ideal for a regular class to bond with your class, build class relationships or just waste a tough afternoon. It has a range of questions from easy to hard to include everyone. I typically put the class into small groups and ask a member of the group to choose a color and number. That is the question that they have to answer. If correct they get one point. Then I move to the next group. Alternatively the whole class answers and then we tally up the points to get a winner. I run it on an interactive whiteboard but would be equally successful on a projector, computer or TV screen. Alternatively it could be run for an individual student on their own device. When you start the game press the shuffle button to randomize the questions ensuring that no game is ever the same. This means that this Jeopardy game can be used multiple times with the one class as it is different every time. This is a PowerPoint Macro Show. To run the game double click the file and make sure you say "yes" to running macros. If you do not the questions will not shuffle correctly. I have tested on a PC but it should work on other devices. If this is your first time with Macros let me know by personal message and I am happy to answer all your questions. Enjoy
