Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day Fortune Teller Craft for Gift Vouchers or Promises

Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day Fortune Teller Craft for Gift Vouchers or Promises

Fortune Tellers, or Cootie Catchers, for a printable Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day craft gift. Students really love fortune tellers, or cootie catcher, so why not use them for a fun craft idea for Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day and for any special person? This is a craft, thinking, writing, drawing activity. These are IOU promises or pledges that students offer as gifts. The idea is that they can play with the mother or father, and end up on a promise to do something, as a gift. I’ve included a list of suggestions to offer. This is like a book of gift vouchers, that can be used over and over. Students decorate the catcher with items the parents likes and writes the promises, or IOU pledges in the center. There are instructions, and a QR code to watch someone make a cooties catcher, so this could be a centre task, with students independently reading, listening and following instructions. There’s a choice of eight catchers:  Mothers’ Day  Fathers’ Day  You’re a Special person (for grandparents, step-parents, friends)  Some are complete with images and promises  Some are almost blank, for students to think, decide, draw, write Although I designed these for Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day, some catchers are suitable for Valentines, grandparents, or special gifts.

KS1 Picasso/Cubism Portrait Art lesson pack

KS1 Picasso/Cubism Portrait Art lesson pack

This pack includes a 4-part lesson plan, which focuses on the famous artist Picasso and cubism style artwork. Including in the planning is the National Curriculum objectives covered, lesson objectives, teaching and assessment points. Each child produces their very own Picasso style self-portrait over a period of lessons. It allows the children to learn about lines, patterns, as well as key primary colours. The children can then be reflective of their artwork and make comparisons to Picasso’s work, on a worksheet (provided in the pack). I taught this my Year 2 Class but it can make a great art focus for any Year’s from 1-4. The finished artwork leads to a great school display! I hope you enjoy teaching the topic as much as I did!

Be nice - assembly

Be nice - assembly

“Be nice” assembly This assembly has been put together by a Head of Year/Pastoral Leader and is designed to be delivered to a whole year group/house or used within tutor time/dinnertime club, or after school club etc. Aims To remind students to “Work hard. Be nice”. (My favourite saying) A previous assembly (“Growth mindset”-which I will also post on TES shortly) focused on the “Work hard” part so you improve your intelligence and talents. This assembly focuses on the “Be nice” part so that we may enjoy stronger friendships and other healthy relationships. This assembly is based on 3 stories. There are morals to each story that can be explored to encourage students to: be nice to others, treat others how you want to be treat, take responsibility for your attitude to improve your experience of the world, and don’t let others decide how you will act or feel. (This is a concept used in my Life coaching called TFAR – Thoughts, Feelings, Actions, Results, and is explained to an appropriate depth in the notes within the PowerPoint on slide 6.) The assembly has 9 slides and no video clips, so no need to worry about your school internet letting you down! It will last 10-15minutes, depending on how much audience participation you encourage. The three stories to tell are wrote as a script in the notes at the bottom of the relevant slide. However, since the notes are not visible once you start the PowerPoint, for your convenience, I have also copied the stories onto slides 10, 11, 12 so you may print them off prior to the assembly to learn by heart, or, to read from during the assembly if you wish. This assembly forms a series of assemblies (10-15 in total- which I will be adding in the very near future) designed to build a positive year group identity, and to boost the resilience of the individual students. Kindest Regards Matthew Obee
