A Simple Stir Fry

A Simple Stir Fry

A simple step by step lesson that takes students through making a quick stir fry. Was used with a year 7 SEN class. Could probably be used with younger students or adapted to suit a wider range of key stage 3 students. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Christmas Mince Pies Recipe Food Technology End of Term Starter Settler Activity Cover Lesson

Christmas Mince Pies Recipe Food Technology End of Term Starter Settler Activity Cover Lesson

Recipe on the theme of Mince Pies. Also includes a Wordsearch with Mince Pies keywords. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

Food in Jordan (Design Technology)

Food in Jordan (Design Technology)

This resource has been designed to be used alongside the other units in Discover Jordan. Children will follow the DT curriculum’s Design - Make - Evaluate objectives by first tasting vegetables, fruits, spices and herbs used in Jordanian recipes. They will then follow recipes for drinks, salads, dips and snacks enjoyed in Jordan before making modifications using the vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices previously evaluated. Recipes included: Lemon Mint, Sage Tea, Fattoush, Ful, Labneh, Mouttabal, Tabouli, Baba Ghanoush, Hummus, Mana’eesh, Kibbeh. Children will then make their own modified recipes before evaluating those as well. Meals in Jordan are normally communal, so the serving sizes are generally large, as they’re meant to be shared by several people. Dips and salads are best enjoyed with warm pita bread and sliced vegetables. A digital copy for editing and sharing on Google Classroom and Seesaw is provided.
