Jekyll and Hyde Part 2 - Video Lesson

Jekyll and Hyde Part 2 - Video Lesson

This is part two of my 6 part series of Robert Louis Stevenson's Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde. It is an animated movie adaptation of the book and as in most such cases it does not adhere strictly to the original work. I made it with the idea of using different media as a comparison to the Robert Louis Stevenson work. This second video covers the part of the story where the lawyer Utterson attends a party at the house of his friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll. Later, after the other guests have left he has a discussion with Jekyll about the dangers of his relationship with Edward Hyde. Later, a maid witnesses a late night altercation between Hyde and an old man that results in the evil Hyde murdering the old man. The movie and comic book style script included her are a fun and engaging way of introducing students to this classic gothic horror story. The materials included would be ideal for bringing the story to younger learners or students of ESL As well as the video, which is in mov format, this product also includes; 1. Two comic book style versions of the movie script in PDF. One in colour which can be used for presentation purposes by the teacher or on students devices such as notebook computers or iPads. The other is BW for easier printing. Both comic books also include writing and question tasks at the end of the story. 2. A PDF worksheet for students to practice some of the vocabulary which may be new to them. This also includes a separate answer print. 3. A teacher explanation outlining the purpose and uses of the video and comic book and also containing the answers to the questions on the comic book. Total number of pages for this product is 29 (PDF comics and worksheets) Similar video lessons I have produced include; Jekyll and Hyde - Part 1 Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Morning song!

Morning song!

I noticed my children were coming into my class in a morning fairly tired, so I decided to create something to help them wake up and bring a smile to their faces. This is sung every morning and the class love it! I have had parents speak to me explaining their child won't stop singing it at home and they love it! I feel as though this is a great idea for every class as it does get the children ready to learn! More songs will be made for each half term.

Book Terms and Meanings Cut Out and Matching Activity (ESOL/EAL/ESL/EFL/Literacy/SLD)

A fun matching activity in 3 styles. Match the terms about books (author, blurb, index etc) to their meanings either by using the colour or black and white cut out cards (designed in a random order to let the students do the cutting without getting the answers!) or on a standard worksheet where they just draw a line between the terms and their meanings. Written for entry level ESOL or literacy learners as a starter for a lesson on reading, books or types of text, I find it works well as an introduction to books when starting on library work, books reviews or reading schemes, If you'd like more reading based activities check out my other reading resources in my shop here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/islaflood

Hunger Games 2 (Catching Fire) Student Work Booklet

Hunger Games 2 (Catching Fire) Student Work Booklet

This booklet has been designed as part of a unit of work on Catching Fire (the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy). It includes activities about characters, the setting and language features which students are to complete as they read the novel. There are also questions about the events/themes/character's perspectives et cetera for each chapter. This is all in preparation for a creative writing assessment where students take what they have learned to create two or three diary entries which provide insight into a minor character from the novel. In doing so they must reveal the personality of their character through what they see, think, feel, hope for and fear. Students were assessed on how purposefully they shaped their representations of people, places, events and concepts in the novel.
