holiday activities using nous + present tense

holiday activities using nous + present tense

I created this resource to support Y8 on their unit 5 in the Studio book. Starting with the very basic nous + present tense expressions, I made a table with more complex structures to show students how they can extend their sentences. This worksheet has a big match-up exercise and a writing task. Ideal for beginners. Covers the topic of typical holiday activities.

Kids love drawing, and the pictures they draw will later serve as inspiration! ✍Mardi: Mon livret de vocabulaire - Each student receives a booklet to help them explore the vocabulary related to the week’s writing theme. The front page includes the writing prompt of the week and an image. The second page includes over 80 frequently used French words. Page three lists 12 words that go along with the theme of the week, and the back page has space for ten words that students have either thought of on their own or looked up in the dictionary. The booklet is a simple one page printable that you can either fold in advance or have students do it on their own. Kids write their name on the front cover and you could have them color it. ✍Mercredi: Vocabulaire - Students go back to their vocabulary booklets from Tuesday and choose ten words that they will include in their rough draft. The words they choose can be a combination of words they have chosen and themed vocabulary that was already written in the booklet. They then write down the chosen words on their vocabulary page that says “ Mots de vocabulaire utiles: J’utiliserai ces mots dans mon paragraphe.” ✍Jeudi: Mon brouillon - Students write a rough draft of their paragraph using the vocabulary words selected on Wednesday. The brouillon page includes a 5 point checklist at the top for students to evaluate their work for themselves before writing the final copy on Friday. This will motivate students to look over their work and make corrections. ✍Vendredi: Ma copie propre - The fifth and final step in this writing program is to write the final copy. Students should feel very confident in writing about this week’s theme by now. At the top of the final copy page they’ll see the writing prompt and question words that they can ask themselves while writing: qui - quoi - quand - où - pourquoi - comment ** Ways you can use this writing program:** ✎ Enhance your writing program by practicing a little every day. ✎ Use the prompts at writing centers Monday - Friday. ✎ Daily 5 rotations ✎ Homework ✎ Writing centers ✎ Fast finishers ✎ Tutoring sessions ✎ No prep sub materials ✎ Morning work ✎ Project on whiteboard for a whole class speaking activity

French weather expressions - Matching pairs game

French weather expressions - Matching pairs game

This communicative activity, based around a classic pairs game, is created as a fun activity to practice students’ French speaking and listening skills around the subject of weather. It is a simple and short activity that encourages students to communicate in French in a natural and conversational way. There are two sheets attached. One colour version of the game, and one black and white, which can be used for younger students as an extended colouring activity. Kids will practice how to say Quel temps fait-il? Il fait froid Il fait chaud Il fait beau Il fait mauvais Il pleut Il neige Il y a du vent Il y a du soleil You will need to print and cut out two copies of one of the weather sheets per game, and the game is played as follows. Students can play in pairs, but for larger classes you could double the students up to have two kids per team. Player1 asks player 2 the question 'Quel temps fait-il?' Player two responds with one of the weather phrases at random, eg. Il pleut Player 1 must turn over two of the il pleut cards. She must try and say the weather phrases on the cards that she picks up. If Player 1 picks the correct two matching cards, she keeps them and has another go. If she picks the wrong cards she puts them back and it is the turn of player 2 to ask ‘Quel temps fait-il?’ and for player 1 to suggest a weather expression to find. The player with the most amount of pairs at the end is the winner.

L'Environnement - French 20 Questions Game - Le Jour de la Terre - Earth Day

L’Environnement - French 20 Questions Game - Le Jour de la Terre - Earth Day The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in this version of the game students will practice asking questions about 30 different nouns and adjectives related to L’ENVIRONNEMENT ET LA POLLUTION. There is a French - English set and one that is only in French. This speaking and listening activity will work well with your chapter on the environment or for Earth Day - Le Jour de la Terre. Included: 1 version with 30 words each in French and English 1 version with 30 words each in French only Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the version of the game that you want to use and do a whole class activity. Many of the words will likely be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice asking questions, but also to build and reinforce vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words written on the chart. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. EST-CE QUE……. … tu es une personne? … tu es un animal? … tu es un minéral? … tu es un endroit? … tu es un aliment? … tu es une plante? … tu es un objet? … etc The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT Alternative game play: To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it. L'Alphabet (The alphabet)

L'Alphabet (The alphabet)

Two simple time-saving Power Point resources - one simply with each letter of the alphabet per slide, for simple teaching of the alphabet - listen/repeat exercises. One Power Point will spin randomly - when in presentation mode (push F5) through all the letters, and will stop/start again on pushing s on the keyboard. Lots of fun activities to be done with this - far beyond knowing the letters of the alphabet - depending on the level of vocabulary acquired this could be used as a starter for a - ‘un object qui commence par …’ (something that starts with …) Equally useful in other languages, and deliberately written plainly to support use in many different ways. Alternatively - print in smaller (e.g. 2 slides per page) versions and use as flash cards, or for small group games.
