Area of Rectangles, Parallelogram, Triangles, and Trapezoids by decomposing Aligned to Math TEKS 6.8D and TEKS 6.8B Have students visualize area of these shapes as they are decomposed and formed into other shapes. There are two versions of each shape--one with all words filled in and one that is CLOZE notes where students fill in key words. Each foldable has practice problems for students and some include journaling prompts. The practice problems include all rational numbers, including fractions or decimals. The product uses the terms base and height so students can connect the formulas together. These notes are best used with lessons where students decompose the shapes themselves so they can connect. This product includes Area of Rectangles (a quick review, students should already be familiar with area) Area of Parallelograms Area of Triangles Area of Trapezoids This product includes two versions of notes. One with all notes filled in (except the interactive parts) and one with key words left blank so students can actively participate. I To print the notes to make a booklet, print the two pages you want two sided and select “flip on the short side.” You could also print and copy 1 to 2 sided on a copier. There is no cutting for students, only a simple fold. Students could also color as they take notes.
