Bug Hotel Power point and Letter Home

Bug Hotel Power point and Letter Home

Such a fun lesson! As art of teaching microhabitats my class and I created one large bug hotel in our garden area, it could also be done in any forest area nearby, but the closer the better as you can visit and investigate the bugs and which environment they’re most drawn too. Included is a brief powerpoint encouraging the children with ideas of what it may look like and natural environments for different types of insects. I would send the parental letter out a week or two before so they can help out with the items needed. Enjoy!

Design and Technology Projects - Year 6

Design and Technology Projects - Year 6

These are two projects that I have created to be used for Year 6 but could easily be used for the rest of Upper KS2. First project - Dragon’s Den Wraps - This is based around the topic of healthy eating where students must design and make a healthy wrap to present to Dragon’s Den. In the project students will explore packaging and design their own unique packaging for their wrap. They will look at nutrition and create their own unique wrap that will appeal to their choice of market. Second project: Renewable Energy - This is a project in which students will build their own working renewable energy models. (a different one each week based on a weekly 2 hour lesson) They will make models based on wind energy, hydo-power, solar power and electric power. All projects can be made from normal materials found in the classroom or at home. Only small solar cells and working motors needed for two of the models in this project.
