This educational material relates to learning the alphabet. Aimed at: Reception/Year 1/ESL & EFL Learning objectives are to develop children's knowledge of upper and lower letters of the alphabet and begin to learn alphabetical order. Contents: - Flexible detailed Lesson Plan includes lesson starter, main lesson and whole class activities and plenary. - Colourful PowerPoint Presentation on the alphabet (letters float in as you click through the slides) - Upper and lower case alphabet flash cards - Editable flash cards - Washing line alphabet activity - Gap-filling alphabet strips (upper and lower case letters) - Blank alphabet strips - Upper and lower case letters to be cut out for extra activities Children are introduced to capital/upper and lower case letters, recite the alphabet, to know that the capital A and the lower case a have the same sound. Briefly: Washing line activity - questions marks are placed where there should be either a capital letter or a lower case letter. Children are given a selection of laminated letters and have to decide whether the letter they have should go where the question mark is. Reinforcement of what the children have learnt: There are a selection of gap-fill strips from easier to challenging. - Cut out the gap-filling alphabet strips and stick into workbooks; and/or - Laminate for continuous use The lesson plan is flexible in that you can refer to it each time you teach a letter. - There are 26 upper and lower letters for the children to cut out each time you focus on a letter. Color by code: students color a picture of “a back to school board with school children” following a code. 2. Write numbers from 1 to 10. Students write numbers in symbols following the correct and logical order of the numbers from 1 to 10. 3. Trace numbers from 1-10: students have to trace numbers from 1 to 10 in symbols and color a nice picture. 4. Read and match the numbers: students have to look at numbers from 1 to 10 that are not in the correct order and match with their corresponding names. 5. Count and write: students have to count school items and write the total numbers in squares. 6. Look and write: students have to look at the numbers in symbols and write the corresponding names. They cover the numbers from 1-10. 7. Trace the alphabet letters: students have to trace the 26 letters of the English alphabet. All the letters are presented in lowercase. 8. What is there in your backpack?: Students have to draw items they have in their backpacks. There is a backpack background to draw the items. 10. Draw and show your friends: this is a nice activity to draw a selfie with the students’ best friends. 11. Read and tick what you like for luck at school: students have a small selection of different food and drinks. They have to select the items they like and add one of their best. 12. Circle and color items related to school: students have to circle and color items related to school. 13. Cut and form the phrase: “WELCOME TO SCHOOL”. Students cut each letter and paste them in the correct order. Then, color the pictures. 14. All about me!: this is a nice activity to make a flip flap book with 10 important personal data. Students have to color, cut the foldable and write the correct information under the flaps: full name, age, birthday, family, best friend, and MUCH, MUCH MORE...

I have uploaded two sets of capital letters A to Z to be printed onto card paper and laminated. A lovely addition to your Alphabet/Phonic station. Aimed at EYFS/Year 1, EFL/ESL students 1. Children practise moulding dough on top of the letters with dough/ plasticine. 2. Children practise writing inside the letters with different colour drywipe pens. 3. Print out as many times as you like - children can draw pictures beginning with the name of the letters. Opportunity to use as a teaching resource showing children how to form capital letters. ABC book & ABC rap

An ABC book for learning/practising the English alphabet. The words taught include: apple, bear, cat, dog, egg, fish, garden, hat, Indian, jungle, kite, lion, monkey, name, o’clock, pen, queen, rat, socks, tiger, umbrella, van, water, x-ray, yo-yo, zebra. If these are the words you want to teach your class, then... Bingo! Each letter is taught and practised in two pages: the first one presents the letter as well as one word that starts with the letter. The second page offers space for handwriting practice as well as two frames for the learners to draw their own pictures of words that start with the letter taught. The book is accompanied by a video where students can rap their ABCs in a fun way that makes them learn and remember the letters, their sounds and the words better. I showed this video to my class on the interactive whiteboard, and when each letter appeared on the screen, we used to rap like this (first the name of the letter, then the word, then the sound twice, then the word again): [eɪ] APPLE /a/ /a/ APPLE [biː] BEAR /b/ /b/ BEAR and so on … I’ m sure you can rap, too!
