Architectural Landmarks in Boston - Research & Creative Technology Project

In this lesson, students learn more about famous structures and landmarks in Boston and the individuals who created them. Students choose the landmarks they will research and then choose the software they will use to showcase their research. Students can choose to create a presentation, a brochure, or a newspaper using Web 2.0 tools (free, no download needed) or by using Microsoft Office or Google Apps. For classrooms with limited technology, this lesson can be completed with students working in pairs or small groups. The completed presentations can be shared with the rest of the class if the teacher chooses. This is a great activity for a social studies or history class, or for a technology class. This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary grades or high school as well. GENGHIS KHAN - A LARGER THAN LIFE FIGURE IN HISTORY

This unit has a focus on the founder of the Mongolian Empire - Genghis Khan. It can stand alone as an example of an important figure in history. It forms the foundation of s study on the role of this leader from early obscurity to prominent leader. The history and the museum depicted in the front page clearly reveal the respect modern day Mongolian people pay to this leader in their history. Visit the museum and gaze at the photos and the map. You will then understand why the heading 'larger than life" is appropriate. Attachment pages are provided so that hard copies can be given to your students. The answer page is provided if you need some guidelines.
