GERMAN TELLING TIME (2) - THREE DIFFERENTIATED DOMINOES GAMES

The games will help your students develop their skill in telling the time in GERMAN in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, learning independently of the teacher. There’s a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino time-sequence line, on the classroom floor or on a long(ish) table, by matching the times and the clock faces. There are three levels of challenge in each set: CHILLOUT CHALLENGE features the analog times in numerical order, 1 — 12 CHAMPION CHALLENGE features all the times in topsy-turvy order, which really gets students thinking about how to tell time in GERMAN SUPERCHARGED CHALLENGE features all the times in topsy-turvy order, with the clock faces first, so students really do need to know how to tell time in GERMAN in order to create a perfect domino time sequence! Each set also features a GERMAN-English reference booklet with all the time phrases written out in both sequential and topsy-turvy order, which students find really helpful as a learning support resource. I've classed the games as suitable for Grades 6-9, but it really does depend on when your students began GERMAN, and what stage they are currently working at. They're really effective as a learning tool with any appropriate grade group. Play regularly as you work with telling the time to map both improved recall and word recognition, as well as increasing confidence. Play as warmers, starters, plenaries and 'pick-me-ups' across the whole school year too for maximum reinforcement - playing against a timer in teams works really well too.
