A lesson that your students will not forget quickly! A timetable themed escape room activity in which students need to do German language related puzzles to get a find all the codes to help Johann stay out of trouble at school . Ideal as vocab revision for the first year of German. Will keep them focused even in the last lesson before the holidays! It includes vocab from the topics school subjects and opinions, numbers, colours, telling the time, hobbies (online activities). There is a “digital only” version and a" mixed media" (digital+paper) version. The “mixed media” version is more fun because it involves the game website and real life puzzles ( jigsaws, code wheels and string activities) that make the activities more “real”, but requires quite a bit of preparation by the teacher. The “digital” version only requires one print out and can be done last minute. Year 7 German - School subjects

Year 7 German - School subjects

At least a week’s worth of work geared to building students’ confidence in asking and answering questions about school subjects. The questions and answers have been inspired by Pearson’s KS3 and KS4 assessments along with AQA’s specimen material. We’ve been trialling a new approach following student voice interviews. We are now introducing students to new language through a mixture of reading, listening and translation into English before moving on to speaking. Since taking this approach, we’ve seen students’ willingness to speak shoot up, as have their speaking grades. A pleasant surprise! This PowerPoint and workbook set is good to go. The notes pages on the first slide of the PowerPoint provide information about resources along with an overview of the lesson. Subsequent slides contain additional tips. The PowerPoint and ‘8 questions-8 opinions’ workbook are designed to be used together in the lesson, whereas the ‘Key questions for this chapter’ workbook is for homework. As students study a unit in class, they complete that section at home.

Die Schule - end of topic sheet

Die Schule - end of topic sheet

Mixed activity sheet on school in German, includes school subjects, uniform clothes. There’s also numeracy in here - a work out the number activity, understand the times and put them on the clock faces and an ordinals exercise. Ideal as either end of topic homework or classwork. I tend to use these when my students are doing their speaking assessment - they get it once they’ve been tested to keep them occupied while I assess the others.
