Drop Down Day : Careers and Enterprise

Drop Down Day : Careers and Enterprise

Drop Down Day / Off Timetable Day Pack - A set of 6 lessons to cover a Drop Down Day (6 hours) all about careers and enterprise. The Drop Down Day was put together for Year 10 originally, but all the resources are editable and well-differentiated so it could be used with any year group KS4 / KS3 with a tweak or so. The overall theme for the series of KS4 Drop Down Days was ‘Independent Living’, so this is just one in a series of six which ran throughout the year. This particular day was run just before the Year 10s went off for work experience, as we decided that this would be a great way to prepare them and convey the importance of focusing on their possible future employment opportunities. As 25% of Britains now class themselves as self-employed, two out of the six sessions also have a large focus on entrepreneurship and enterprise skills. All these individual lessons have been rated very highly by Tes users and are tried and tested in my own department. Financial Literacy Drop Down Day

Financial Literacy Drop Down Day

Drop Down Day Pack - A set of 6 lessons to cover a Drop Down Day (6 hours) all about financial literacy and ethical spending. The day works especially well if you can have a key speaker from the Finance Industry (the school’s finance director will do) to kick off proceedings; just someone to emphasise how important financial literacy is and how it can lead to lucrative careers. Intertwined with the money and independent living skills gained by students throughout the day are reminders of their responsibilities as consumers to spend ethically. There is much focus on young people’s rights and responsibilities throughout the lessons as this was planned to ensure thorough coverage of Citizenship and SMSC too. All these individual lessons have been rated very highly by Tes users and are tried and tested in my own department. DLS Complete Bundle Pack

DLS Complete Bundle Pack

Here’s the larger bundle pack you’ve been asking for containing 34 Daily Living Skills units designed for mild-to-moderately affected special needs high school students, but appropriate for any young person wanting independent living skills. If you looking for a smaller pack of books, check out the Basic Bundle or the Big Bundle, or you may want to try any of the theme-based bundles offered on this site. Daily Living Skills meets U.S. federal mandates for transition services for special needs teens and Indicator 13 requirements. Written on a high third/low fourth grade level, each unit is filled with airy pages and lots of bullet-point facts and information so that reluctant readers can use the program independently. Yet, while supporting their ability level, this program also honors the humor and sensibilities of teens and young adults. Each 2-4 page lesson has a quiz or activity for students to check comprehension and each is focused on helping students determine their needs and desires for the program. While the books may be used in a "buy-today, use-today" method, a Teacher's Manual is also available on this site for teachers who prefer this support. The manual contains tips for implementation of the program and program management along with written ITP goals for each workbook, a class grading system for most units and notes (as needed) for most workbook. (The Teacher's Manual is revised each summer to add new books written that year--you will be notified.) Finally, a Power Point Presentation is also provided here (free) which will allow you to introduce the program to students, parents and/or administrators in a quick, yet comprehensive manner. All units have a lesson/quiz format to constantly check for comprehension, a complete grading sheet, answer key, parent verification letters to document compliance with federal standards and airy, third-grade reading level pages. Making Meals and Cleaning House both include video modeling of important life skills in an accessible, clear format. The 34 books in this bundle pack are: Becoming Likable Becoming Self-Aware Building Character Building Self-Esteem Building Self-Motivation Buying Insurance Celebrating Holidays Cleaning House (with videos) Creating Self-Confidence Decision Making Doing Laundry Dress for Success Everyday Manners Fair Fighting Getting a Paycheck Grocery Shopping Interviewing Skills Kitchen Basics Making Conversation Making Meals (with videos) Managing Stress Nutrition Outdoor Chores Overcoming Failure Paying Bills Safe Dating Seeking Employment Staying Healthy Time Management Transportation Voting Who
