REVISION Treaty of Versailles and Weimar (Edexcel 9-1 Weimar and Nazi Germany)

Part of a series of revision lessons in which pupils prepare for their final examination for Paper Three Weimar and Nazi Germany as part of the 2016 Edexcel specification. Pupils will: WALT: Revise the Treaty of Versailles and problems with the Weimar government. Grade 3: Identify the terms of the Treaty of Versailles and describe how the Germans felt about it. Grade 5: Describe the strengths and weaknesses of the Weimar constitution. Grade 7: Explain why the government was unpopular and who opposed it. Grade 9: Evaluate whether Hyperinflation was positive or negative for the people of Germany.

Each escape room has students decode interesting facts about U.S. involvement in different wars like Wolrd War I or Pearl Harbor! This is the perfect resource to introduce the topic or to review the topics. Each Escape Room has students walking around the classroom breaking codes. Students are given 9 different secret code names and sent on 9 separate secret missions. The codes include ciphers, Morse code, cryptograms and a final 4 digit code based on the decoders/clues. Each clue and code is different. The codes require students to think differently to decipher or decode them. Some codes are easier than others. Some codes require critical thinking to determine what a letter/symbol stands for. Each code will reveal facts related to the topic. The use of secret code will keep your students engaged while competing to find the final code. Students can report the final code to you. If you wanted to, you could purchase a 4 digit lock that you program, but it is not necessary at all! No props needed!! Each room is a NO PREP, PRINT & GO Activity! Students are sent on 9 separate “secret missions” and given a different back story to ignite their active learning skills. They are given a code name which makes them feel as if they are part of the secret mission. Students practice hands-on, practical problem solving skills all while learning about various U.S Wars. Your students will be inspired to think outside the box! The best age range for this resource is 8+. Please look at the preview to determine if this resource works for your age group. Younger students may need some help with some of the more difficult codes. You can use the pre-labeled clues or you can challenge older kids to choose/find the decoder that works for each of the clues. A set of labeled and non-labeled decoders are included. In addition to learning or reinforcing the subject matter, my escape rooms encourage teamwork and critical thinking. As a “timed” challenge, students will be engaged from beginning to end. World War I ESCAPE ROOM: Woodrow Wilson, Treaty of Versailles, Allied Powers

The World War I Escape Room will take students on a secret mission around the classroom! This escape room has students decode interesting facts about World War I. This is the perfect resource to introduce the Treaty of Versailles, the Zimmerman Telegram or Central and Allied Powers. The World War I Escape Room has students walking around the classroom breaking codes. Students are given a secret code name and sent on a secret mission to help Jared defend his country. The codes include ciphers, Morse code, cryptograms and a final 4 digit code based on the decoders/clues. Each clue and code is different. The codes require students to think differently to decipher or decode them. Some codes are easier than others. Some codes require critical thinking to determine what a letter/symbol stands for. Card Sort: Munich Putsch - success or failure?

If you are studying Hitler’s rise to power then this card sort will help your students assess how far the Munich Putsch in 1923 was a disaster for the Nazi Party. It can be used with a range of abilities and has never failed to get my students excited, engaged, whilst improving their understanding of the topic. When you purchase this resource you will be able to download a single page Microsoft Word document which includes a learning objective, instructions, two headings cards labeled success and failure as well as sixteen information cards to be sorted. At the document there is an extension question designed to help consolidate the lesson. I have also linked in a video link to a clip from the film, Hitler the Rise of Evil, which could be used as starter to recap what had happened during the Putsch. Headbandz - Who am I? - GCSE History Revision Game

This is a fun and engaging GCSE history revision activity based on the popular Headbandz game (a.k.a. Who am I?). The idea of the game is for the students to guess which historical figure is on the card on their forehead by asking their classmates simple questions. The rest of the class can only answer ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. So the better they know the GCSE course the easier they will find the game! There are 60 cards in total. These cards are for: -Medicine and Health Through Time -Weimar & Nazi Germany -The Cold War and Super Power Relations -The Normans and Anglo Saxons These cards are easy to adapt or add to so you can customise the pack if you don’t teach any of these units. A fun, easy to run, popular and effective revision activity.

Medicine Loop Revision Game

This is a Loop revision activity for Medicine Through Time. It works on the same principle as flash cards, but the key words on one side don’t match the definition on the other side. In order to complete the Loop they need to find the student who has the key word that matches their definition (read the instructions below). It is a really fun activity that I mainly use for revision but can be used as a starter, a plenary or a fun activity. Instructions for use: 1 - Download and Print off the sheets. 2 - Cut around the outside edge of all the cards. 3 - Fold over the cards in the middle and glue them so on one side you have key words and on the other side you have definitions. 4 - Laminate the sheets (optional) 5 - Cut out the individual cards. 6 - Give out ALL the cards (at least one per person) 7 - Choose a random student to read out their definition, the rest of the class listen and whoever has the correct key word SHOUT IT OUT! 8 - This second student then flips over their card and reads aloud their definition. 9 - You keep going until you complete the loop and get back to the first student TIP 1 - To make it more effective and more competitive you should time each successful loop and post the times. Get the students to compete to try to beat their past times and other classes times. TIP 2 - Want to make it more difficult? Make the students swap cards every time someone makes a mistake or every time someone calls out. That way they will follow the rules and be forced to learn all the cards.
