Year 2 Music lesson plan - Graphic Scores

Year 2 Music lesson plan - Graphic Scores

Included is a 3-week lesson plan based on children playing a range of percussion instruments following a graphic score. The planning highlights the Year 2 National Curriculum objectives, lesson objectives, teaching and assessment points. These lessons can be easily adapted and extended to last up to a full half term; this will depend on how quickly the children grasp the idea and understanding of graphic scores. I have also attached the PDF graphic scores, which I used and were a big help! These were taken from traditionalprimarymusic.com The children loved these musical lessons and developed some very good group work and co-ordination skills. Following the teaching and practise, they were able to create their own graphic score by the end of the unit.

CAVE PAINTINGS - Complete Unit of Work

CAVE PAINTINGS - Complete Unit of Work

LANDSCAPE PAINTING - CAVE PAINTINGS: This resource offers a complete unit of Art and Design ideas with cross curricular links that enables students to extend their knowledge of Cave Paintings and the people who created them. This project looks at three major cave painting systems; Chauvet Caves; located in France, Lascaux Caves; also located in France, and the Cave of Altamira; located in Spain. The resource bundle is extensive and enables the teacher to pick and choose which elements to use. Plenty of background information is included and a range of interesting Art making ideas that students will enjoy and will produce a lively, informative display. We begin by establishing a Base Line of students knowledge and then build on from here encouraging students to reappraise their knowledge as they learn. An 18-clip Power Point presentation has also been included that highlights interesting facts about the three cave systems. There is also a 22 page set of Illustrated Notes that covers the Power Point facts – with extended notes about the conservation of the caves. There is a resource that looks at the period of time when the Chauvet, Lascaux and Altamira cave paintings were produced. It places the paintings on a time line and touches on the development of Early man. There is a resource that looks at the coloured paints that have been found in the caves and how these colours were resourced and made. It then explains how the eye sees colour and how low light levels affect the colours we see. We then look at the way the tools that created the cave paintings were made. This complete unit of work with cross curriculum links to; HISTORY, ART & DESIGN, SCIENCE, DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY & GEOGRAPHY. It is suitable for KS2 & KS3 students.

Get the day started on the “Right Foot” with this fun collection of 14 movement songs and games while you review colors, shapes, numbers, letters and more. Your students will want to do these engaging songs over and over. Teachers report that there are enough songs in this collection to provide you with movement music for the whole year. ➢ Research has shown that children do better in school when they begin their day with movement activities. ➢ NOTE: Instrumental versions of some songs are provided to allow students to extend the lesson by creating their own movements. ➢ These songs and movement games will help your students “get the wiggles out” and improve concentration, attention span, listening skills and creativity. ➢ These activities help the increasing number of sedentary students coming to school behind in their brain development due to a lack physical activity. ➢ Using “Wake, Wiggle & Work” everyday is great way to motivate your reluctant learners. ➢ Another benefit is that these activities have been shown to improve students’ attitude toward school and raise attendance rates.
