#### Mathematics 9-1 Revision Questions - Foundation - Equations, Angles, Perimeters, Volume, Averages

Units 5 - 8 – Equations, Angles, Averages & Ranges, Perimeters and Volume - 240 pages of revision questions geared at year 07.

#### 10 GCSE Maths CALCULATOR Foundation Homework Revision (9-1) Part 1 -Includes all ANSWERS 2018

Here I have created revision worksheets for my current Foundation Year 11s. I give these out as a weekly homework, and my students have come on leaps and bounds. Them covering these small topics on a weekly basis, allows me to cover the more in depth topics in class. Enjoy. Topics covered: Circles Using a caluclator Compound interest / depreciation Pythagoras Exchange rates Speed distance time Mean from a table Density Trigonometry Standard form Reverse mean Reciprocal Interior and exterior angles of polygons.

#### Functional Skills math converting between metric units crib sheet

This is a simple flow diagram style help sheet for converting metric units. I use this as part of my metric units lesson. I have highlighted the key conversions that are needed to be remembered for both level 1 and level 2 functional skills maths exams. As this is a topic many struggle with I have also put together a carousel of activities which is available to download in my shop: Let’sgetfunctional There are many different functional skills maths level 1 and functionals skills maths L2 resources available. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/convert-metric-units-carousel-functional-skills-maths-6-resources-11904624

#### Maths / STEM / Science Project Lesson - Density of Metals (Density, Ratio, Volume)

This is a Maths/STEM project lesson based around calculating and comparing the density of different metals. Students have to first calculate and rank the densities of the metals, than answer questions based on combining different ratios of metals. These questions involve working out density, volume or mass from compound metal alloys of differing ratios. The lesson was pitched at year 10, and has a support sheet to enable access for foundation students. The lesson was designed to last 75 minutes, but actually the difficult quesitons in the sheet means it could easily last 90 minutes or more if required.

#### Harry Potter and the Conversion of Units

A student asked me to do a resource involving Harry Potter; we are doing unit conversion soon so this is what occurred. There are two tasks, one converting metric units (including a challenge involving areas and volumes) and a second converting between metric and imperial. I downloaded a font from dafont.com for free so if you want to edit the worksheets (I have included the Word versions so you can do so) you will have to download the font too.

#### Estimating weight

Pupils will estimate the weight of various objects to try and meet the totals on the worksheets.

#### Metric Conversion Word Problems (Weight)

Resource developed for teaching children to convert between g and kg in context based problems. This resource includes a teaching presentation with guided examples and differentiated activities with answers - the activities can be used with different ability groups or over the course of several lessons for progression. There are four sets of questions, allowing for two days of activities moving to the next level up over the course of both days. The tasks are presented as word problems. The answers are included as slides on the presentation so children can mark their own work. The presentation allows for: Re-visiting the metric units of measurement for weight (mass) grams and kilograms (and milligrams/tons in relation to these) Encouraging children to use knowledge of halves/doubles and patterns etc. to convert mentally between grams and kilograms using knowledge the 1000g = 1kg. Explaining how to use place value (grids) for more complex calculations by going forwards or backwards three places to convert between g and kg or kg and g. The problems are designed to include more complex use of number, as well as conversions as the level of challenge increases. Includes a print-friendly Word version of all activities. For neatness of presentation, ask children to cut and stick each box as they go, showing their workings out beneath. Ideal for use in Year 5 or year 6. I would be grateful if you could leave a review once you have used this resource in class. #### Maths Manipulatives: Unitary Conversions

The ability to convert units is a life skill. This resource allows the conversion of different units by laying out cards in a matching pattern. For those of you following a Maths Mastery CPA teaching style : The concrete manipulation of the cards leads to pictorial representations drawn in jotter before the writing of abstract calculations. See in action The conversions used cover length, time, mass and volume - imperial, metric and older! The cards have been set so that that can be printed back to back using Avery C32070 printer labels or C32011 Business cards , or just printed out on single sheets and cut up. Pupil Age Range: Primary onwards. Size : 2.6 MB Approx Format : secured PdF EBook.

#### Units of Measure Topic Test

Simple topic test for Units of Measure. Suitable for lower ability KS2/KS3, or SEN at KS3/KS4.

#### Converting Metric Units

Haven’t uploaded in a long time. Here’s a resource I have adapted from whidds (https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/compound-measures-lessons-level-4-8-f-b-6359806) all credit to whidds on this one! Let me know what you think if you see and/or use. Some online reource games on the last slide. All credit to those authors.

#### LKS2 Maths Challenges Bundle!

A bundle of challenges linked to the White Rose Hub maths scheme of learning * Includes: Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Fractions, Measures and Geometry.

#### x58 Measurement (Time, length, weight, temperature)- 5 minute recap sessions

I made some ‘mini sessions’ - quick 5 minute recap sessions to use as warm ups and slot into other sessions to keep these skills active in my my children’s minds without spending too much time on them. I get them to self-assess as well so = no marking. x58 mini sessions over all. 1 activity per page, duplicated so it’s easy to print. Will need to print each page roughly 5 times to cover a whole class. Each has a WALT on it making it easy for the children to quickly tick or draw a face next to etc for self-assessment. One document is time (to the past hour, quarter hour and 5 minute sessions). The other is split into weight, length and then temperature. I use them all the time, so thought I’d upload in case others would find it useful.

#### Reading Scales Blockbusters Game

Fun and engaging class game based on the old TV show Blockbusters, with questions on how to read values from a scale. Split the class into two teams, blue and white. The blue team must try to create a connected blue line from left to right, the white team must try to do the same from top to bottom. Click on the letters to link to the questions, if the answering team gets it right then click “Game board” to get back to the start, and click on the appropriate colour for that team to turn the tile blue or white.

#### Reading Scales Differentiated Worksheet

The worksheet file for my lesson on reading values from a scale, including harder worded questions to challenge the higher end of the class.

#### Reading Scales Complete Lesson

NOTE - For some reason the preview for the powerpoint lesson plan seems to show the formatting weirdly (some textboxes look too small etc.), however when I download it and open the file it looks just as it should. Complete lesson on teaching pupils to take readings from scales (including decimals), with both Powerpoint and SMART Notebook versions. Fully differentiated worksheet included, with a slide of extra challenging questions to display on the board and stretch the upper end of the class. Blockbusters game included as an alternative activity. I have broken down the process of reading the scales quite a lot, you may wish to delete that part from the example slides and set it out yourself if you have your own preferred way of teaching it. I would also recommend checking to see if the starter questions need adjusting for your class, though I have tried to keep them quite generalised.
