Fully resourced lesson on geometric patterns is Islamic Art

Fully resourced lesson on geometric patterns is Islamic Art

Most suitable for key stage 3. Looks at geometry in Islamic Art. Students then create their designs using either compasses (higher groups) or isometric/square grids (may be better with lower groups). Probably good for end of module/term lesson Resources in the lesson gathered from all over the place, but thought it would be useful to have in one place as a single lesson.

Congruent Triangles

Congruent Triangles

Congruent Triangles 1.Explanation sheets for Describing the Congruence of TWO or** MORE TRIANGLES**. 2.Differentiated worksheet with answer sheet . I have included two activities. One I would use for lower ability pupils that need to see that by rotating, sliding or flipping a triangle to overlap another shows congruence. The other describes the rules. Each activity has the same assessment of learning activities but these could be used individually as their are two should you wish to use both activities on different days. 3.Plenary Mix and Match Game forDescribing the Congruence of TWO or** MORE TRIANGLES** based on the activity.Game suitable for Starter/Plenary/Revision/Link activity Describing the Congruence of TWO or** MORE TRIANGLES**… I hope that it works for you. I would go through the materials first and have an idea of how you will present it. You will need data projector and laptop.

These two worksheets enable you to check a student’s understanding of this topic while keeping them engaged by having them work in pairs, or by drawing and getting involved, not just by answering questions.

SATs Bundle (Geometry)

SATs Bundle (Geometry)

Topic-focused SATs questions and fully-worked solutions for the GEOMETRY strand. Click 👉 tes.com/…/bundles… for booklet bundles of the other strands.
I have put all my GEOMETRY booklets together in this one convenient download. I hope that this is helpful to you.
The questions in these booklets are in the style of actual SATs questions and are designed to be printed as A4 or A5. KEY POINTS: I have provided full answers, with comments and working where helpful. I have maintained the style of the actual SATs questions so that students can become comfortable with the way that SATs questions are presented. Most of the questions are from actual SATs papers, but I have also added questions so that this resource matches the requirements the current curriculum better than the older resources that are still in common use (note that many of the older resources of this type contain questions on topics which are no longer examined). I have spent a lot of time arranging the questions so that there is a general increase in difficulty as students work through them, and so that they fit on the pages better – this means less wasted space and significant paper-saving when printing 😃
👍If you like this resource, then please rate it and/or leave a comment💬. Union Jack Flag Symmetry

Union Jack Flag Symmetry

This is a printable activity with the option of printing with grid lines, without grid lines, in colour or in black and white. Developed initially for the Harry-Meghan royal wedding, but it is a standalone activity that is useful in its own right, not simply because of a royal wedding (although, that gives the perfect excuse to use it!) This uses a triangular shaped flag, that might be used for bunting - it could be displayed as bunting on a maths working wall once completed! Tip: N:rich has a nice activity on flag symmetry that could precede this or follow this lesson. https://nrich.maths.org/7749 (alternatively, download their ‘getting started’ advice, for questions that could be used to enrich this activity.) 50% of the author proceeds of this purchase will go to our partner school in Sierra Leone.

Triangle properties revision activity

Triangle properties revision activity

An always, sometimes, never activity looking at various properties of triangles (angles, sides, perimeter, area, symmetry and a few more). Includes a wonderfully sneaky (but potentially confusing!) example of triangle area sometimes being the product of the lengths of all three sides. A good way of stimulating discussion, revising a range of topics and exposing misconceptions. Please review and give feedback, whether you like the activity or whether you don’t!

Maths: Lexicology Across the Curriculum - Bingo.

There are eight different bingo cards in this resource. I do not call out the affixes (prefixes and suffixes), I elicit the name of the affix through a series of concept questions. This is a great resource to improve knowledge and understanding of prefixes and suffixes which will ultimately develop a Mathematical Lexicon. Bingo as a ten minute starter creates a fantastic learning environment. For more resources visit my website www.lexicologyforreading.co.uk

Crack The Safe - Symmetry and Transformation

Crack The Safe - Symmetry and Transformation

Six “Crack The Safe” activities where there are more possible answers than questions thus avoiding students guessing or answering by process of elimination. These are designed to be starters or plenaries but obviously the choices is yours. There is a symmetry (both reflective and rotational) activity, plus one each on reflection, rotation, translation and enlargement before a final sheet on mixed transformations (not including enlargement however as this proved problematic in the format!).

ROTATIONAL SYMMETRY GCSE FOUNDATION

ROTATIONAL SYMMETRY GCSE FOUNDATION

An introduction to rotational symmetry: a topic for some reason all lower ability students accept and then forget! The fully animated powerpoint shows the tracing of a shape and spinning it around 1 full revolution. Other examples are then shown. The fully differentiated resource goes from 1 star (multi choice) to 3 star (demanding complete the shape so that it has rotational symmetry type questions). All tasks can be printed and written on, although you may have to adjust the dimensions of the sheet so that it prints near perfect square grids (this will affect the quarter turns). Answers are not given
