I used the lesson for a job interview and was successful with fantastic feedback regarding this lesson! The class were a lower ability Year 4 class but this resource could easily be adapted to fit any ability year 4 class or even a more able year 3. Aimed at year 10 looking to do AQA Level 2 Further maths in year 11 and being taught within transformations topic (wil use this to do matrix transformations) Powerpoint has brief explanations and chance for examples (there are many different methods I’ve seen for this, use the one you’re comfortable with) and questions building up from scalar x matrix, matrix x vector to matrix x matrix. This GCSE unit of work on transformations would be useful for both higher and foundation tier students. It includes nine different worksheets: 1. Reflection 1 Reflection in horizontal, vertical and diagonal mirror lines 2. Reflection 2 This includes mirror lines on co-ordinate axes, described as y = a, x = b, y = x etc. Questions include making and describing reflections. 3. Rotation Includes center points on axes and a mixture of questions requiring students to complete a rotation or describe how a shape has been rotated. 4. Translation A mixture of translations to complete and describe. 5. Enlargement 1 Includes only positive scale factors, with questions for students to complete enlargements and describe them. 6. Enlargement 2 This includes fractional and negative scale factors. 7. Describing Transformations 1 This mixed practice worksheet gives students a chance to practice describing all four different transformations. 8. Mixed Transformations 1 & 2 These two worksheets combine all of the skills together from all the other worksheets for a final review of the entire topic.
