Introduction to Trigonometry

Introduction to Trigonometry

Introduction to Trigonometry lessons ( I spent two lessons this, however could take longer or shorted depending on level of the class) Aimed at low ability KS4, Would work well as intro to trigonometry at KS3. Starter - Linked to Pythagoras knowledge. Labeling sides explanation and quick questions (works well on whiteboards) (At this stage my group needed more practice on labeling sides , I found a great Worksheet on TES , so I haven't attached it but its easy to find!) Introduction to the word SOHCAHTOA - what it all stands for etc - good for students to take notes here. 3 very clear examples on how too use trigonometry for finding a missing length shown clearly through animations. Then practice for students with answers. Finally a plenary - which is a applied trig question where they will need to drawn their own picture - great to stretch students. This worked really well with a bottom set year 11 group!!

Geometry: Surface Area 2 - Surface Area of Pyramids (+ resources)

This is a whole lesson looking at surface areas of pyramids. (15 slides). This is part of four lesson series that I teach on surface area, which is one of the new focuses for the new 9-1 GCSE. The lesson includes: + Starter challenging pupils to think about what questions could be asking + Learning objectives and Key Words + MWB activity to judge (remind) pupils of Pythagoras + 2 excellent and well animated examples (they are very thorough !!) + TIP (to avoid a common mistake) + WORKSHEET + ANSWERS + basic plenary (the worksheet is time consuming, so normally not enough time to do a longer plenary) + ALSO 2 handouts with all the formula's NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thank you.
