Parents Internet Safety Newsletter & Pupil Contract (Primary E-Safety)

Parents Internet Safety Newsletter & Pupil Contract (Primary E-Safety)

These resources are ideal for school E-safety Officers, computer science co-ordinators or primary class teachers, as they help to establish some basic e-safety guidelines and to create communication between home and school. 1. The newsletter is designed to be sent to parents of primary (KS1 & KS2) children, laying out advice for parents and explaining what the school aims to achieve in the area of online security. It has been written generically enough to be used by any school, but an editable Word version is also included. 2. The pupil contract sets out an agreement of important internet safety rules and expectations to be followed in school. It also has space for a signature from the child and from the parents. Again, this has been written in a broad manner to suit most primary schools, but an editable Word version is also included. Please see the Goldtopfox shop for plenty more e-safety resources: https://www.tes.com/resources/search/?authorId=20240864&q=internet%20safety&shop=goldtopfox

Digital Citizenship Internet E-Safety/Planning, websites and activities.

Digital Citizenship Internet E-Safety/Planning, websites and activities.

It is vital that we teach our children to keep safe online. Hopefully by sharing this resource you can help to give your children the knowledge to keep themselves safe while enjoying the Internet. These resources have been developed over the last 11years but due to their nature, they are always a work in progress. It is part of my Communicating, Collaborating and E-Safety planning (DL-CCE) Children learn how to communicate and share information in a variety of different ways. They learn how to stay safe when using the Internet and how to keep personnel information private. They talk about current issues such as Cyber bullying/friendship, mobile phone use and sensible and safe use of all Technology. They also talk about being aware of how long they spend using this Technology and how they can take ownership of their usage. They discuss ‘The right to be unavailable’ and talk about turning off mobile phones and other devices. We try to help them understand that social networking is a wonderful way to communicate but that it can be time consuming and demanding if not used carefully. I hope these resources help you to ensure that your children have the knowledge to keep themselves safe and the tools to deal with problems or dangers that arise.

Internet Safety Through Social Media

Internet Safety Through Social Media

Now, more than ever, is an important time for children to be more mindful of what they are doing and who they are talking to on the internet. With this in mind (and also the fact that several of the children in our year 3 and 4 classes have Facebook accounts) I developed this Power Point presentation focussing on some of the more commonly used apps on phones or tablets by children. These include Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Moshi Monsters and even Minecraft. The children need to think carefully about the age that they think this would be the most suitable for and then they find out the real age the app is designed for (don't worry, the correct age is on the Power Point and there are notes on each page for any further guidance). I hope you find this useful as well as eye opening. I definitely did.

SID 2015 - Safe-Bots

SID 2015 - Safe-Bots

We want to reach as many young people as possible with these important e-safety messages so we would like to provide schools with class sets of the materials that are being used our in our Safe-Bot building activity. Safe-Bots will be built all over the country in schools and in two flagship stores belonging to our sponsor, O2. These will be The White Rose store in Leeds and the Tottenham Court Road Store in London. In school pupils will build a Safe-Bot robot, Safe-Bot cat and a Safe-Bot dog. Pupils who make a Safe-Bot will then be able to share their Safe-Bots with the Safe community and earn a Safer Internet Badge for doing so. To share your class’s Safe-Bots you’ll just need to visit www.safebot.couk and fill in the simple online form. If your pupils are under the age of 13 we advise using a teacher’s email address for this step - although the SID badge will also be available on Makewav.es to award to your pupils through the Badge Mission.
