Learn at Chester Zoo - Creative Writing Activities Collection

Learn at Chester Zoo - Creative Writing Activities Collection

What better place to be inspired to write creatively than at Chester Zoo? 'Mountain chickening' or creating a poem as fast a cheetah...there's lots of activities to choose from. The following activities will give an opportunity for your students to reflect on and respond to animals they find in the Zoo, whilst encouraging original and imaginative thought. Some have specific instructions in order to help pupils get started and present a creative challenge for the more confident or able. If, however, they want to add extra words or you want to adapt the activity then that’s totally fine too. Each activity is intended to last around 20 minutes, and could be carried out in the Zoo, or in school.

End of school Year - Key Events Recap - What's happen this Year - Lesson + exercices

As the School year draws to an end how about thinking with our students about the main events that have happened in 2016-2017? So many things happened that it is a good idea to step back and reflect on these events- whether positive or negative. Here's what you will get in this resource: a 25-slide fully interactive PPT and an activity booklet with 13 pages with 13 stories/events with articles and video links. You can use the stories to create discussions and debates. The stories are followed by fun activities: 1. a geography quiz where students need to place the countries from the 13 stories 2. a question game where students need to guess what is hiding behind the questions 3. a team challenge with questions and a timer 4. another game with prizes hidden if students get the answers right 5. a group work activity where students create their own quiz in a blockbuster format 6. a discussion with a video 7. a PBL project where students find a solution to a global issue. The slides are fully interactive with sounds and video links embedded. The slides come with explanations in notes to guide your teaching. All the questions come with answers, at the bottom of the slides for an easy correction and to save you time. I suggest you use this resource with advanced students as they are some tricky questions that requires some solid knowledge and an interest in the news. Have fun!
