All topics here cover the entire first unit of GCSE Chemistry (8462) for AQA. The writing style is clear and the presentation is crisp, allowing ease of teaching and/or revision as this as a companion resource. Certainly, it is applicable to any board, but I specifically tailored these resources to the AQA specification points. Chemistry Paper 1 Revision Grid (with answers)

Chemistry Paper 1 Revision Grid (with answers)

A summary revision grid for chemistry AQA trilogy (9 - 1) . An array of questions, some are fact recall and others require a little more detail/understanding. Ideal for revision as all topics are covered, Ideal for synoptic use prior to an exam for revision or for homework. I feel this is suited to mid-high ability. Some of these questions are NOT applicable for foundation students. I have provided answers so students could self-assess or add improvements on. I would blow this up to A3 so students have the option to answer on the sheet, and maybe colour as I find they enjoy that more! I hope you find it useful!

Modelling Chemical Reactions

Modelling Chemical Reactions

Welcome to the Gibbon’s Guides to Science! As an experienced teacher of KS3, GCSE, A-Level and BTEC Levels 2 and 3, I’ve got a lot of resources I’ve developed over the years. This is one of them. It’s a worksheet to help your learners get the idea of how to write down what happens in a chemical reaction. It also, at the end, hints at the idea of balancing equations and conservation of matter (so that’s the gifted and talented kids sorted!).

GCSE Chem (9-1) - Predicting Products of Electrolysis (Two worksheets plus knowledge organiser)

GCSE Chem (9-1) - Predicting Products of Electrolysis (Two worksheets plus knowledge organiser)

This resource is a must have for Electrolysis revision, classwork or homework. This resource is made up of two worksheets plus answers for both. Students must predict the ions which will be present during an electrolysis of various electrolytes and then decide which ions will be attracted to either electrode. It is supported by a great knowledge organiser which guides students through HOW to predict what will be formed. Knowledge Organiser (written against the Edexcel Specification but easily applicable to others)r. I’ve even included worked answers for the worksheets to save you the bother! (Students may need access to a periodic table and/or a reactivity series which includes hydrogen).

AQA 9-1 Chemistry C1,C2,C3,C4 New to teaching resource pack

AQA 9-1 Chemistry C1,C2,C3,C4 New to teaching resource pack

A truly vast PowerPoint for use with aqa chemistry/trilogy chemistry (8462/8464). Intended to help teachers new to the 9-1 aqa chemistry course get through the first few chapters of the new course: ideally you would read through the relevant slides, and cut and paste as necessary to help build your own lessons to save time on planning at the most stressful time of the year. Some parts are just text: you may wish to source your own images. Covers just about everything in the first four chapters in excruciating detail Contains loads of practice questions with model answers High context language for EAL learners Written with grade 9 and A-level in mind (See about page for more information) This collates the other 2 PowerPoints on my profile, with a few minor corrections, so you only need download this one (older computers may struggle to load this). Note: as this constitutes my parting gift to UK teaching, it is unlikely to be updated further, but if you find any glaring errors, leave a comment and I will fix them. I hope you find this free document useful.

Concentration of solutions

Concentration of solutions

A fully-resourced lesson that teaches students how to calculate the concentration of a solution in the units grams per decimetres cubed and mol per decimetre cubed. The lesson includes a concise but detailed lesson presentation (20 slides) and a set of differentiated questions. The lesson begins by introducing students to volumes in decimetres cubed and time is taken to ensure that students are able to convert to this measurement. Moving forwards, students are guided through how to calculate the concentration in both units through the use of worked examples. Differentiated questions are available so that all abilities can access the work. This lesson has been written for GCSE students (14 - 16 year olds in the UK) but could be used with students who are beginning their A level Chemistry studies
