Thematic discussion questions designed to encourage fluency & confidence in English Ideal to use as an engaging warmer or as a dynamic speaking activity to finish a class. Aimed at adults and teenagers. 1. Print & cut 1 set (double-sided) of flashcards for each pair of students. **2.**Students draw a question card and ask their partner. Encourage students to: • Extend their answers • Elicit more information • Agree / disagree with their partners • Justify their arguments 3. Change pairs 4. Students try and report to their new partner everything they can remember which their old partner has just told them.

10 powerpoint slides. No text involved; pictures only, so can be used for any language. First 5 slides are for first year; last 5 for second year (all I words repeated, with a few new ones added). Slides cover general clothing, sports clothing + shoes, accessories. Pictures quickly appear then disappear & students are to ID them. Slide 3 is 1 and 2 combined. 5 is 1, 2, 4 combined. Total of 41 different words.

Clothing and Places Partner speaking activity

This is a partner activity with directions in English and pictures, so it may be used for any language. Students are to draw a line connecting a person to clothing to a place. They then take turns saying their sentences in the target language (Paul is wearing a hat to the museum.) and the partner needs to draw a line connecting those items. May be used with other tenses, add adjectives, add reasons, etc.

Clothing Mega Connect 4 game

This is a Connect 4 game for 2 or 3 players. Students are to identify the picture in the target language in order to win a square. The goal is to win 4 squares in a row, four times. Title and score box are in English. The rest has pictures only, so may be used for any language. Includes 2 versions; 1 in color, 1 in black and white. Includes: shirt, dress, skirt, shoe, sock, belt, cap, jacket, hat, pants, sweater, blouse, coat, raincoat.

Clothing in English Detectives Speaking activity

This is an all-class activity. 5 students go to the front of class. There are 5 different pages hanging on the board. Each page has a name and 4 pictures of clothing. The activity uses a total of 10 different clothing items: tie, hat, coat, boots, socks, shirt, pants, belt, shoes, sweater. Students at seats take turns asking questions with yes/no answers in order to deduce which student has which name.

Print on cardstock and cut into cards, 1 set per 3-4 students. Set has a picture of clothing and the word in English for 48 clothing items (including a few less common words). Pick and choose which words you want to focus on. Use to play Concentration, Slap, Old Maid, Go Fish, Match Game.

Clothing in English Snail game

This game uses pictures for 16 common pieces of clothing: shirt, blouse, pants, belt, necktie, hat, cap, jacket, coat, sweater, socks, shoes, boots, sandals, dress, skirt. Students must identify the clothing (use in sentences to make it more challenging) as they advance along the snail path. Just pictures are given, so it is easy to adapt for each textbook. You can also have students use colors when doing this activity. Make 1 copy for every 3-4 students; print on cardstock and laminate to keep forever. You need 1 die for every game board.

Hopefully they will be of use to teachers teaching English as a foreign language, talking about daily life, or for vocational studies. A simple booklet to print out and give kids over a short holiday. 10 activities, students could complete one per day for 10 days. Includes - wordsearches, sums (addition, subtraction, long multiplication), fractions, sentence writing, paragraph writing and alien message decoding. All are a recombination of my some of my other resources, so page numbers aren't in sequence.

"GET THE PICTURE?” (Clothes)

Designed to help beginners master their ”clothes” vocabulary, this game is for independent work and study buddy activity. Once players have finished matching each vocabulary card with its corresponding picture card, they flip over all the pairs to check their own work. Matching icons on the back of flipped pairs confirm that the task has been well done. Icons that don’t match tell players that it’s time to try again. This file includes two 28-card decks.
