On the back of the example are four differentiated questions to allow for stretch as well as support. This resource has been designed for a Quiz-Quiz-Trade activity in an AQA 9-1 composition lesson to provide students with a starting point for their accompaniment. Four-part Glockenspiel Performance Piece - Snow is Falling - Key Stages 2 and 3.

Four-part Glockenspiel Performance Piece - Snow is Falling - Key Stages 2 and 3.

Snow is Falling These resources will support your delivery of the National Curriculum for Music. This piece works particularly well with Key Stages 2 and 3 children. You only need glockenspiels and metal wind chimes, (if you have them) to perform this. ‘Snow is Falling’ is a simple, four-part melodic composition for glockenspiels. It is easy to put together and extremely effective; a gentle, haunting piece. You can have as few as four players or as many as you like. These musical activities teach children to listen very carefully, keep to a steady beat, perform with glockenspiels and play notes on specific beats. This culminates in a performance of a four-part, harmonised melody called ‘Snow is Falling’. Children learn the definition of percussion family, tuned and untuned percussion instruments, glockenspiel and are introduced to the musical terms tempo, beats, glissando and the sharp sign #. You do not have to have a musical background to teach this composition. This pack includes detailed, step by step instructions on how to build and prepare ‘Snow is Falling’ and a power point diagram depicting all parts together.
