The Haka: ICT, Drama, PE & History Topic

This resource is a medium term plan for teaching the Haka. Rather than be delivered solely as a PE session this Medium Term Plan will demonstrate links with other subjects such as ICT, history and Drama. Using two example session plans, there are demonstrative links as to how assistive technology could be used during the session. This unit of work would work well around a yearly Geography topic looking at different nations of the commonwealth and with a different focus in each 6 week block. The sessions in this unit of work focus on getting the students to recreate the Haka (both dance and audio) and use ICt to record it for editing and to create a short video. Throughout the sessions there is some filtering of knowledge/history to do with New Zealand and the Haka. Would work well with a Primary school class or an SEN class.

MUFFIN PIZZAS - Life Skills - Visual Recipe and supplementary resources.

Making Muffin Pizzas: This resource has a notebook and a worksheet. The notebook is designed for the students to use it as a visual sequence when cooking. They have all the ingredients and utensils needed and then an easy to follow recipe. It has an inbuilt shopping activity so that the cooking can be integrated into a shopping program. Within the shopping part which encourages literacy skills, students can choose what they will buy and then make their own shopping list by either writing it or sticking the associated visual onto their shopping list. There are also some integrated literacy skills to match the ingredients as well as some writing sheets. It was created for students with special needs (SEN) for teaching life skills but can be used as a valuable resource for early years literacy.
