Adaptation worksheets (SEN)

Adaptation worksheets (SEN)

Just some basic worksheets I’ve knocked up for my Year 8 SEN class - they worked quite well so I thought someone might get some use out of them too! Might be useful as a last minute idea for a starter/ plenary in classes with different ability levels also.

Time out

Time out

I've started to use this idea for learners with ADHD/ADD. It allows them to leave the room without disrupting the whole class. The challenges i've used are bubic cube, maths puzzles, lagoon puzzles. Always have the challenge already set up in another room with instructions. It certainly takes their mind of any problem!

Pete Wells Website

Pete Wells Website

A website full of sensory stories and resources particularly useful for secondary age people with SLD and PMLD. Pete’s sensory stories tend appeal to the yucky sense of humour beloved by this age youngster. His Dr Plankenstein and Hagmella offer equally yucky yet useful resources such as a switch operated talking dice with skeleton head dots and a chance to test simple maths by adding ingredients to make spells of a given strength.

Make your own quizzes

Make your own quizzes

There is a lot of information and loads of resources on this site for ICT teachers and students, but I particularly like the ‘make your own quiz’ feature. You must register by giving an email address and choosing a user name and password then you can make quizzes for ANY SUBJECT or topic. Quizzes include: Dunkin’ Teacher, Balloon Invaders, Hangman, Spot the Teacher, Bash the Word, Maze, Golden Cube Racing … and more. Very easy to make and useful for IWB or for students to access on a PC. Use for starters, plenaries or revision etc.
