The Help study guide (Pre-viewing/reading activities)

This engaging resource can be used either with the film or the novel by Kathryn Stockett. The questions are focused on helping illicit ideas and prepare students for the actual watching/reading portion of their study. Like most of my other resources there is material for discussion and debate or even just individual critical thinking. The resource addresses: slavery,Jim Crow, segregation, civil rights, women’s rights and the wealth gap. There are also some key dates that teachers can build knowledge on as background information and context. Students can explore the time period of the 60s and the pros and cons of living in that time period. Teachers can also use the tasks to discuss Jim Crow and the impact the laws had on community as a whole.

End of Year Quiz 2018

End of Year Quiz 2018

Every year, I keep getting asked if I am creating another quiz because everyone seems to love them. As we finish school on the 22nd of June this year, I have been able to get this one made during times when the kids are involved in end of year activities! I was lucky as it is so time consuming! The music round alone took me 4 hours to create and I was able to do it whilst kids were on a out of school visit! This will fill a full hour including the marking, but you must be tight on timing. I would suggest for each picture in the places round - 10 seconds. For the personalities round 2 minutes and for the wotz dat?? round 3 minutes maximum. The conundrum round should have no more than 10 minutes, but they should be able to do it in 5 as the focus is English punctuation and there are only so many forms of punctuation. The music round takes 15 minutes (video I have created). My quizzes usually prove to be very popular and the kids love them! Enjoy!

Invertebrates - 3-Part Cards

Invertebrates - 3-Part Cards

Montessori 3-Part Cards of Invertebrates When creating this, I wanted a simple classification tool for introducing the classification of invertebrates. This set contains examples of one of each of six major groups of invertebrates. And because sometimes it’s easy to become confused as to just where the arthropods come in and what that involves, I’ve added a second set of cards just for classifying the arthropods. Invertebrates - Matching Cards

Invertebrates - Matching Cards

Invertebrates - Montessori Matching Cards What child can resist the lure of the opportunity to carefully inspect a worm in a puddle after a storm? Or chasing a butterfly with outstretched arms? What child can resist the lure of an opportunity for careful inspection of a worm in a puddle after a storm? Or chasing a butterfly with outstretched arms? These real-life photo cards give children a simple introduction to the world of invertebrates by matching, playing games and talking about six of the major groups. But that’s not all! I’ve also made a second set of cards just for the arthropods. There are so many of them and it’s confusing, sometimes, to sort them all out! Not just for a Montessori classroom, this work is a great addition to any unit when the topic is animals without backbones. Ages: 2 1/2 + Thank you for considering my work! https://www.facebook.com/marycarr51/ Join us on Facebook!
