Transformations - An introductory (Complete lesson)

This lesson starts off with explaining what a 2D plane is and then gets pupils to make a simple diagram explaining the relationship between the four different types of transformation. The pupils make working models explaining the different terms. Finally they self-assess their work with the success criteria provided. This complete lesson comes with worksheets and PowerPoint. Pupils will need access to scissors, glue, coloured paper, plain paper.

Practice Conditions Required for Transformations Interactive Spreadsheet

Practice Conditions Required for Transformations Interactive Spreadsheet

An Excel Workbook containing a simple spreadsheet to practice the GCSE skills of recognising the conditions for reflection, rotation, translation and enlargement. The questions have multiple choice answers. If the correct letter is given it turns the answer box green, or red if incorrect. Note that your computer will need Microsoft Excel with Calculation Options set to 'Manual' and Macros enabled. There is a set up sheet which gives some advice on how to do this. Clicking the 'More Questions' black square will clear the sheet and recalculate questions and answers. Excel's Zoom Bar can be used to scale the sheet up and down to fit on your monitor. Note that as the questions are randomised, some questions could be repeated. With a constant number of re-generated questions, students can practice this to their heart's content.

Rotation 90 180 270 degrees, first lesson for weaker students.

Designed as a first lesson on rotating shapes. I used Mrbartonmaths's powerpoint as a start for the demonstration, but needed some thoughts of turning 90, 180 and 270 degrees. Plus clockwise and anti clockwise. The worksheets were also found on TES, but I do not remember the author, Sorry.
