Kite Flying Festival -

Kite Flying Festival -

This assembly is aimed at Lower Primary age range and through it children learn about the Hindu Festival of Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan. If you are in India in January, you are likely to find yourself amongst clusters of kites in the sky and most probably flying one! It is usually celebrated on the 14th of January however it is not uncommon to see excited families practicing their skills on roof tops for several days before. The children learn about some of the foods and traditions associated with this Kite Flying Festival. IMPORTANT The license for using this assembly in your own class is £3, but if you wish to use this resource for a whole school assembly you will need to purchase the school license. If you like this assembly and are looking for others for throughout the school year, you will find it more economical to purchase themes from Mirrorassemblies.co.uk where your school can subscribe to any number of themes for periods from one term to 5 years. This will allow you access to all new assembly materials added to that theme or those themes instantly. Mirror Assemblies also provide ready-made assemblies including scripts presentations and linked music in the form of a presentation which encourages thought and reflection as a warm-up for the main part of the assembly. Easter Go Fish Card Game (have/have got)

Easter Go Fish Card Game (have/have got)

A card game to practice Easter vocabulary and have/have got in their various forms. To play: Divide students into groups of 4 or so and deal 4-5 cards each. The rest go in the middle and make the pond /pool/. On his turn, a player asks someone for a card (Have you got…? or Do you have…?) in order to get 4 of a kind (or 6, depending on how many cards you make). If the player has the card, he must hand it over and the player whose turn it is can ask anyone for another card. If the answer is negative, the player is told to go fish and to take a card from the pond and the next person asks for a card. When a player has 4 (or 6) of a kind, he sets them on the table and plays again. Continue until all the cards run out (all the cards have been grouped together into families according to their picture). The winner is the person with the most families. This worksheet contains two of each picture, so I would suggest printing it two or three times to form a set where students can get 4 or 6 of a kind. Enjoy!

Easter Egg Hunt - Quiz

Easter Egg Hunt - Quiz

This is a set of 15 Easter signs to hunt for: 5 Famous faces (Ant & Dec / Usain Bolt / Elsa / The Queen / Iron Man), 5 Easter puns, & 5 answers to Easter Questions. Also included is an answer sheet. The signs are all on separate A4 PDFs - each picture in the middle of the sheet is above A5 size. I suggest printing all 15, laminating them (weather proof), then attaching a stick to the back (I used plant labels) so they can be stuck into the ground. To give it a bit more weight I also stuck some card from a recycled box to the reverse. I used this as part of an Easter Egg hunt for KS1 & KS2. Included in the files is a photograph of all 15 pictures so you can preview the whole set before purchasing (I laminated mine so a couple have light reflecting off them)! Enjoy! :)
