Spanish Months and Age - How old are you? KS1/2

Spanish Months and Age - How old are you? KS1/2

A lesson plan and resources for teaching children how to respond to the question 'How old are you?' in Spanish and for learning the Months of the Year (linking to age and birthday month) I used this resource with able KS1 children but would probably work for lower KS2 too. The lesson takes about an hour (depending on size of group, ability of children and how long you choose to spend on some of the interactive activities. N.B. This lesson requires some prior knowledge of numbers (I taught this lesson a week or so after teaching my 'Introductions and Numbers' lesson also available for download) The plan contains 3 sections: an introduction - circle time activity main - interactive games, flash card activities and practical group activities independent activity and goodbye - time to complete independent worksheets and activities and say goodbye. Resources include: Flash Cards for display and matching activity (in Spanish and English) Make your own month clock (two versions blank and illustrated) Months word search and answers Writing practice worksheet. Lesson Plan The objectives of this lesson are: By the end of the session most children will: • Have practiced Spanish greetings and revised numbers • Be able to answer the question ‘How old are you?’ in Spanish • Know their birthday month and be learning others. The planning is fairly flexible you can spend longer on some parts than others, do activities as a whole class or print multiple resources and work as smaller groups - whatever works for your group of children! I have included both word and PDF versions of the documents

Introductory lesson to Spanish culture and greetings.

Introductory lesson to Spanish culture and greetings.

A excellent way to introduce your new classes to Spanish. This resource is great for both primary school pupils and new year 7 classes! It consists of a starter activity which tests their prior knowledge of basic Spanish greetings. The lesson then moves on more broadly to discuss the Spanish speaking world and highlights how widely the language is spoken. Once this has been covered, the pupils are introduced to basic Spanish greetings and are expected to create a comic strip acting out what they have learnt. The lesson also consist of a fun quiz in which pupils are tested on their knowledge of where Spanish is spoken and the phrases that they have learnt during the lesson.

Greetings, numbers, months and basic information in Spanish

Greetings, numbers, months and basic information in Spanish

This lesson is perfect for primary school or KS3. It revises basic greetings such as "hola, buenos días and qué tal.". Once the basic greetings from the previous lesson have been covered, the pupils are introduced to giving basic information about themselves including "me llamo, tengo ... años and vivo en...". The pupils are expected to write a role play using the new vocabulary, based on a model provided. In order to further challenge the pupils, they are provided with additional language to manipulate the role play to make it their own. This provides the pupils with the opportunity to perform their role play in front of the class who are expected to listen out for their classmates' responses. The lesson also covers numbers from 1 to 21 and months through fun songs. There are also a number of games suggested within the powerpoint which the pupils love!
