This resources looks at fractions - working with 1/2 or 1/4. It uses a Pizza and its ingredients to teach the concepts. This uses every day things - a Pizza to show that fractions are a real-life daily aspect. It is a resource for special education and early years. This includes worksheets and interactive whiteboard resources. To teach the mathematical concepts of fractions and specifically whole, half (1/2) and quarter (1/4) It was designed for secondary aged special educational needs students. I have included the recipe for making Pizza with this resource.

Students have to count how many candles are in the ten frame and then select the correct answer out of 3 choices on the bottom of the task card. Come in color/colour and black and white option. All graphics are linked to the theme of Diwali. Instructions are included on the first page of PDF file. 2 task cards come on each page. I recommend cutting and laminating each task card individually, by laminating the task cards you will find they are stronger and longer lasting. This means you can use them year in, year out for your students, just pulling them out of the cupboard and you can wipe them clean after your students have finished with them! Great for number/counting practice especially for the theme of Diwali.

Fall Build a Sentence for Speech Therapy and Special Ed

Build a Sentence (18pages) - Autism and Special Needs, Speech therapy Forming sentences is very important for young learners or those with autism. This activity uses real-life pictures for easy recognition of common objects and sight words as sentence starters. It is perfect for early readers. This is also an activity to practice identifying the attributes of what, the number, and the color of a group of items. There are 12 groups of items. The student will match the corresponding picture to answer the questions - What? How Many? What Color? There are 2 ways to use this file: 1. Print the first 12 pages and use the pages as a “cut and paste” activity. The students will use glue to paste the correct answers where necessary. 2. Print all the pages on photo paper and laminate them. Cut out the pages containing the numbers and pictures. There are 2 pages that serve as boards for the types of answers (“what?”, “how many?”). Use Velcro on the back side of each card and in the middle of each blank square on the boards as well as on each square containing the questions. Thus the activity can be reused as many times as needed. *** Students can build 2 types of sentences: -using cards with words and hints (dots for the numers and pictures for the object words), then -using cards with only words, as shown on the title page. This is a great matching activity for K and 1st gr and for students with autism.

A Christmas Carol - Adapted

A specially adapted version of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens for foundation skills reading and writing and special education. My 5 week scheme of work covering staves 1-5 is included. Lessons are planned for 2 hours duration, but they are adaptable to suit your own needs. This complete lesson covers Stave 1 and includes all handouts, a presentation and worksheets for a variety of activities designed to increase vocabulary, assist with spelling, reading comprehension and creative writing - working as a group and individually. This resource means foundation level students can enjoy classic literature and improve their reading and writing skills at the same time. Suggested use of resource - Students watch presentation. Read the specially adapted text out loud. Put the relevant slide up on the power point. Go through the reading comprehension worksheet as a group. Read out handout - Meet Scrooge! Read out handout - Meet Bob Cratchit! Go through the spellings as a group. Students complete the sentences in handout using the spelling words. Discuss the creative writing prompt. Brainstorm students' ideas. Students write about their own response to the writing prompt. Students draw what they have written about. Further lessons will be available to cover the rest of the scheme of work.
