To assemble print out the A4 sheets, cut out the circles and then stick back to back with a lollipop stick sandwiched between the two circles. The front should show the title of the Brain Break and the back, the corresponding instructions. I’ve also included a PowerPoint file for you to edit and create your own. ‘Reach out before you freak out’ video series

‘Reach out before you freak out’ video series

This package of twenty-minute video-based activities can show students how reaching out for support can change their experience of everyday issues. View the full resource on ReachOut Schools. About this resource: Four 20-minute lessons with videos Young people’s real stories encourage help-seeking Includes worksheets and discussions The short lessons incorporate discussion activities based on Visible Thinking methodology as well as practical worksheets, and they’re an ideal way to create meaningful discussions in homeroom and wellbeing lessons. The teaching resource is curriculum-mapped for students in Years 9–10, and appropriate for use with students in Years 11–12. Each short film is mapped to one of four domains in students’ lives: friendships, life online, the future and school life. Covering topics from school and careers, to dealing with toxic friendships and how to talk to someone you trust, the video stories are embedded in ReachOut.com so that young people can immediately connect with self-help information. Created alongside young people, these videos are part of ReachOut’s ‘Reach out before you freak out’ series of short films, which delve into their worlds to show them that things can be better, and that they have the power to help themselves. Young people love stories: they want to feel connected to their peers, and find hope in sharing their successes. The videos place young people at the centre, telling their own stories of self-help and seeking help early to encourage others to do the same.

PSHE worksheet for pupil well-being

PSHE worksheet for pupil well-being

**A discussion/starter activity for PSHE lessons or for Tutor Period. Ideally for KS3 and above, though could also be used for KS2. ** Help your pupils discover their ‘Little Happiness Ingredients’ and have a discussion around the activities they enjoy doing to improve their well-being. The worksheet then also asks pupils to plan activities over the following 7 days, to help them develop/maintain a habit of including deliberate leisure time in their days. When exams are looming, you can ask them to focus on activities that take no more than 15 minutes to do, so that even when they are busy and stressed with revision, they can still find time to fit quick leisure activities into their days. You will find more activities in the book I have co-authored with Elizabeth Wright (with Foreword by Kristján Kristjánsson): “Character Toolkit for Teachers: 100+ Classroom and Whole School Character Education Activities for 5-11-Year-Olds” Many of the activities are suitable for older children and even adults.

This pack contains a variety of visual support and activities to promote good oral hygiene routines with children and adults who find sequencing challenging. The pack includes a poster to keep by the sink, a checklist, flashcards, a mini flip chart, a colour in page and a cut and stick sequencing worksheet. I get the kids in class to use an old toothbrush to brush the paint onto the tooth colour in worksheet to encourage brushing in circular motions and ensure the whole tooth is cleaned. I laminate the mini flip chart and add double sided Velcro to the bottom of each flap that the kids close over when they have completed each step successfully.
