Expressing feelings through art - Feelings ICEBERGS - complete lesson (outstanding)

Expressing feelings through art - Feelings ICEBERGS - complete lesson (outstanding)

A complete lesson for KS2 linked to PHSCE. Explore how feelings can be expressed by manipulating the elements of art, particularly line and colour. Children learn about the main forms of abstract art and then go on to express themselves in a feelings iceberg (to show how they feel on the surface and underneath in different situations) This was an outstanding lesson in year 5 All images either authors own or sourced from PIXABAY.

High aspirations and growth mindset - Complete PHSCE lesson KS2

High aspirations and growth mindset - Complete PHSCE lesson KS2

A complete PHSCE lesson for KS2 based around believing in our potential and raising our aspirations and how other people see us. Children take part in discussions, role plays and drama. They then become agony aunts and uncles at the end to express their learning. The planning refers to the text 'The Bad Seed' by Jory John. This is a great book which fits in with the plan brilliantly. However, the plan can work well without it too. All images either the authors own or sourced from PIXABAY.

"Wake, Wiggle & Work" - Fun Songs to Start the Day

"Wake, Wiggle & Work" - Fun Songs to Start the Day

Get the day started on the “Right Foot” with this fun collection of 14 movement songs and games while you review colors, shapes, numbers, letters and more. Your students will want to do these engaging songs over and over. Teachers report that there are enough songs in this collection to provide you with movement music for the whole year. ➢ Research has shown that children do better in school when they begin their day with movement activities. ➢ NOTE: Instrumental versions of some songs are provided to allow students to extend the lesson by creating their own movements. ➢ These songs and movement games will help your students “get the wiggles out” and improve concentration, attention span, listening skills and creativity. ➢ These activities help the increasing number of sedentary students coming to school behind in their brain development due to a lack physical activity. ➢ Using “Wake, Wiggle & Work” everyday is great way to motivate your reluctant learners. ➢ Another benefit is that these activities have been shown to improve students’ attitude toward school and raise attendance rates.

Brain Bursts

Brain Bursts

I am introducing Brain Bursts. These 30-60 second activities help increase circulation, get the students moving, increase body awareness, and improve focus. They can be done with the students standing at their desks and require very little space. These activities mimic what young children love to do and that’s run. If you look at a child they run from place to place, not walk. They naturally engage their brain by sprinting short periods of time. Games like basketball, tag, baseball, and football are all sports that have the participants sprinting, rarely do you see a 7 or 8 year old doing long distance running. Great for all ages. Excellent for Grades K-8.

Skipping Challenge Activity Instructions & Pupil Sheet

Skipping Challenge Activity Instructions & Pupil Sheet

This resource is the perfect resource for a term long block of skipping in PE lessons. It contains clear explanations on how to master a number of increasingly complex individual, partner and team skipping challenges. It explains how a child or group of children can learn how to do these skips, tells you where to source quality jump ropes, provides links to websites where you can source great video demonstration clips and also provides you with a useful individual pupil record sheet - where children can record their progress and teachers can keep a record of school skipping records. This resource is linked to the 'skipping workshops' skipping challenges and their website is a great starting point for skipping demonstrations. Basically this resource is all you need for a great set of skipping lessons (apart from a few ropes). I have also uploaded a set of six skipping certificates onto this website - so please check these out and download them. They're pretty basic, but are fully editable. If you liked this resource - please take the time to review it - follow me as an author and check out my shop on this site 'Rich4ruth' Thanks
