AQA GCSE (9-1) RS Spec A - Revision materials - Theme A Relationships and Families - Islam

AQA GCSE (9-1) RS Spec A - Revision materials - Theme A Relationships and Families - Islam

These are materials for revising Theme A from the perspective of Islam. From the specification, the Theme is split into a series of topics, each having its own sheet. Using the exam questions as published in Specimen Materials as a start point, the topics are tackled via these questions on the first side of each sheet. On the reverse of the sheet are examples of potential questions, using the language of the Specimen Materials. These can be used in class, as a revision aid, issued for homework to do some/all the questions. They can form the basis of a lesson. They are useful for non-specialists to support subject knowledge.

Christian Values

Christian Values

This lesson requires the students to investigate different Christian values. Each group should be assigned a different pack which provides from 1 to 3 sources relating to that value (newspaper articles, academic articles, etc). The students have to complete the task sheet as they go, reflecting on the relevance of these values today along with what they mean for their own lives. Whilst they may not deem themselves Christian, are there any parallels between the Christian values and what they believe? This usually takes two single (45min) periods to investigate and feedback. The task later feeds on to the essay assignment I have designed and which is available on here.

Are Christian Values Relevant in a Modern Society?

Are Christian Values Relevant in a Modern Society?

This is an essay task based on prior learning of Christian values (such as agape love, stewardship, marriage etc). There is a rubric with a clear skill development that the students should be expressing. I use this assessment after discussing; Christian values, scientific and ethical developments in a modern society (such as euthanasia, cloning). There are two points to the question; are Christian values relevant? Are they relevant to the modern world where science is prominent? Most students will agree that they're relevant or are adapting.
