The line-starters are open and flexible for different types of trip and input, while also being clear and straightforward. There is plenty of space for writing throughout, with a spare line for extra thoughts. The resource offers writing practice and opportunities for self-expression, as well as a way of marking and celebrating your school’s event. Best suited to Years 3-6. Kite Flying Festival -

Kite Flying Festival -

This assembly is aimed at Lower Primary age range and through it children learn about the Hindu Festival of Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan. If you are in India in January, you are likely to find yourself amongst clusters of kites in the sky and most probably flying one! It is usually celebrated on the 14th of January however it is not uncommon to see excited families practicing their skills on roof tops for several days before. The children learn about some of the foods and traditions associated with this Kite Flying Festival. IMPORTANT The license for using this assembly in your own class is £3, but if you wish to use this resource for a whole school assembly you will need to purchase the school license. If you like this assembly and are looking for others for throughout the school year, you will find it more economical to purchase themes from Mirrorassemblies.co.uk where your school can subscribe to any number of themes for periods from one term to 5 years. This will allow you access to all new assembly materials added to that theme or those themes instantly. Mirror Assemblies also provide ready-made assemblies including scripts presentations and linked music in the form of a presentation which encourages thought and reflection as a warm-up for the main part of the assembly. Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day Fortune Teller Craft for Gift Vouchers or Promises

Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day Fortune Teller Craft for Gift Vouchers or Promises

Fortune Tellers, or Cootie Catchers, for a printable Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day craft gift. Students really love fortune tellers, or cootie catcher, so why not use them for a fun craft idea for Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day and for any special person? This is a craft, thinking, writing, drawing activity. These are IOU promises or pledges that students offer as gifts. The idea is that they can play with the mother or father, and end up on a promise to do something, as a gift. I’ve included a list of suggestions to offer. This is like a book of gift vouchers, that can be used over and over. Students decorate the catcher with items the parents likes and writes the promises, or IOU pledges in the center. There are instructions, and a QR code to watch someone make a cooties catcher, so this could be a centre task, with students independently reading, listening and following instructions. There’s a choice of eight catchers:  Mothers’ Day  Fathers’ Day  You’re a Special person (for grandparents, step-parents, friends)  Some are complete with images and promises  Some are almost blank, for students to think, decide, draw, write Although I designed these for Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day, some catchers are suitable for Valentines, grandparents, or special gifts.
