EYFS Assessment and Moderation Guide

EYFS Assessment and Moderation Guide

This Assessment Guide was developed as a result of inconsistent assessment judgements and ineffective assessments. It has been in place 1 year at my current school and has drastically improved the consistency and accuracy of assessment across our EYFS Department. The guide includes: Objectives for each curriculum area of the EYFS Curriculum. Examples of how children may demonstrate objectives. Guidance of what constitutes children emerging, developing or meeting expectation within an age-band. Notes: The guide begins at 16-26 Months to ELG. Some objectives have been added that our department felt should be included in the rounded assessment of a child. These are written in red so you can choose to disregard them if you wish to. This guide is not editable. Once purchased, if you would like an editable version, please let me know.

Frankenstein Graphic Novel Study

Frankenstein Graphic Novel Study

This resource is designed to be used during Reading Workshop and is to be used with Frankenstein by Gris Grimly. About the Graphic Novel: Gris Grimly’s Frankenstein is a twisted, fresh, and utterly original** full-length, full-color graphic-novel adaptation of Mary Shelley’s original text, brought to life by acclaimed illustrator Gris Grimly**. The first fully illustrated version to use the original 1818 text, this handsome volume is destined to capture the imagination of those new to the story as well as those who know it well. New York Times bestselling illustrator Gris Grimly has long considered Frankenstein to be one of his chief inspirations. From the bones and flesh of the original, he has cut and stitched Mary Shelley’s text to his own artwork, creating something entirely new: a stunningly original remix, both classic and contemporary, sinister and seductive, heart-stopping and heartbreaking. About the Resource: The pack has been designed in alignment with Common Core Reading Standards for Grade 7. The pack has been designed to cover five weeks, with assigned pages for reading, comprehension tasks and quotation and structure analysis. A link to an editable digital copy of the file on Google Slides for completing without printing is available with download.

Macbeth Fortune Cookie Prophecy Pre- Reading Activity

Macbeth Fortune Cookie Prophecy Pre- Reading Activity

A fun activity to introduce students to the concept of prophecy and to later question whether Macbeth was driven by greed and manipulated into creating his own destiny, or whether the witches’ prophecies really did come true! Cut out the 30 “prophecies” provided and have students pick one from a hat. Give students a week to see if any of their prophecies come true (they are all pretty vague, some of them are bound to!) There is a summative handout for students to complete after and from here a general class discussion and sharing of stories will give students something to think about and later link to the question of Macbeth’s fate.

What Was The Question? - Ratio and Proportion Special

Four sets of four problems where students have the answer but there are blanks in the questions which require filling in. This is designed to create discussion in class and hopefully provided natural differentiation (stretch the “top end” by finding the general solution where possible compared to finding a single solution). I will be using these as starters or plenaries as I believe they will develop deeper understanding of topics, but feel free to use them as you like (you will as you don’t need me to hold your hand).
