Using a Calculator: Part 1 (Loop Cards)

Using a Calculator: Part 1 (Loop Cards)

This download contains four sets of 16 cards. Students choose a set and sort them into order by answering the questions. Then they try to do it faster using a different set, which has a different sort order. For Loop Cards on other topics go to https://tes.com/.../loop-cards. Answers and instructions are included. --- The cards can either be used by individuals, pairs or small groups. Solutions and instructions are included, but my favourite use is for two students to have different versions of the cards and race each other. They then check their answers, shuffle, swap packs and race again (quickest overall time wins!) Cut out card size is approx. 65 x 90 mm.

Standard Form revision

Standard Form revision

Keeping with the theme of the revision lessons already on here this lesson looks at the ability of students being able to write as a standard form, or as an ordinary number. It also looks at multiplication or division of numbers written in standard form. This lesson is part of the bundle I am currently putting together for both my higher level and foundation level students. The bundle can be found from the following link. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/gcse-revision-lessons-11733758

Triangular Numbers Bundle

Triangular Numbers Bundle

A handy resource pack which includes 2 investigations on triangular numbers: 1 designed to introduce to pupils to the sequence (this resource links with properties of shape) and the other to help pupils understand the derivation of the formula for the nth term of the triangular numbers sequence (this resource links to finding the nth term of quadratic sequences, simplifying expressions and factorising). Also included is a revision sheet covering all the content of triangular numbers in the curriculum including the properties of the sequence, finding the nth term of it and worked examples of exam questions involving triangular numbers.

AVERAGES - Price of Football: Full results 2017

AVERAGES - Price of Football: Full results 2017

Some great, up-to-date, resources for teachers teaching #Maths or #Numeracy. The annual BBC Price of Football study is the biggest of its type in Europe, gathering season and match day ticket prices from clubs across 13 divisions in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as some of the biggest leagues on the continent. This year we have analysed over 2000 ticket prices in 10 categories: cheapest and most expensive match day ticket cheapest away ticket and most expensive away ticket cheapest season ticket and most expensive season ticket young adult season ticket and match day prices. The study also looks at how much clubs in the UK charge for pies, programmes, shirts and a cup of tea.

KS3 and KS4 Triangular Numbers Revision Sheet

KS3 and KS4 Triangular Numbers Revision Sheet

This is a great revision source for KS3 and KS4 pupils on triangular numbers. The resource includes a definition and explanation, patterns which can be found in the sequence, how to find the nth term of the sequence and worked examples of exam questions involving triangular numbers. Depending on the ability of the class, you may wish to differentiate; the opening part of the resource is suitable for less able learners whilst the later part of the resource should stretch more able students. Other topics linked with this resource include finding the nth term of quadratic sequences, generating sequences and properties of numbers.
