End of Year Quiz - Summer 2017

End of Year Quiz - Summer 2017

A fun, yet challenging, quiz to end the academic year with for KS3, 4 and even 5. Contains rounds on... *The School Year - questions about events and news that have happened from Sept '16 through to July '17. *Movie Round - movie posters released this academic year *Music Round - questions about music released this academic year *Intro Round - intros from chart hits (you guessed it, from this academic year!) *Celebrity Face Swap - guess the celebs with the wrong bodies *Bridge Over Troubled Water - perhaps a controversial round - aimed to make students aware this year has had tragedies too - name the singer from the music video *Sport - questions about sporting events from this academic year. Any questions - please ask. I've tried to ensure all hyperlinks work but do let me know if there are any issues. This quiz has been cobbled together from lots of other sources - I'm a bit of a resource magpie! ALL PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED TO THE SICK CHILDREN'S TRUST. My son had viral meningitis last summer and the charity were amazing - letting me stay in free accommodation with a bed, hot shower and laundry facilities while my 5-week-old was in Intensive Care.

Summer Quiz - End of Year Fun Quiz - Music - Movies - Celebrities - Around the World + More!

Summer Quiz - End of Year Fun Quiz - Music - Movies - Celebrities - Around the World + More!

An original and fun interactive quiz suitable for all high school students. Engaging rounds, fun pictures drawn by me, sound effects and more! I've been making these quizzes for years now and the students really love them! The them this time is summer holidays so all the rounds are linked to that. Round 1 - Geography - name the country from the capital city. Capital cities appear on a n airport departure board and the student shave to name the country. Round 2 - Celebrity Picture Round - Students have to identify photos of celebrities obscured by sunglasses. Round 3 - Movie Round - clips of recent movies play in the style of in-flight entertainment and students have to name as many movies as they can. They might want this video playing twice as it goes quite quick! Round 4 - Travel Picture Round - A cartoon version of me appears in photos of famous tourist destinations around the world and students have to name the country that they're in. I'm wearing some visual clues for the harder ones! Round 5 - Music Round - clips of recent popular songs play and students have to name the song and artist. All this is themed around a summer holiday with pictures and sound effects to make the whole quiz fun and engaging. It's timed to last about 50 minutes but can be stretched out if necessary or likewise split up and used as separate rounds at different times. Enjoy, and have a great summer!

Lights, Camera, Action! Topic Unit Plan (6 Weeks)

This resource has been planned for a 6-week Half-Term. It connects the curriculums for Design Technology, Science, Art, English, and History. Children investigate light and how it travels while also studying the eye and the history of cinema, with a focus on special effects. The English units that are included are Explanation Texts (involving the eye and light) and Non-Chronological Reports (about a special effect in cinema or an innovator of special effects in cinema). Units are also available separately, lasting for one week each.

"The Big Fat End of Year Quiz 2017" - End of year Form / Lesson Activity

"The Big Fat End of Year Quiz 2017" - End of year Form / Lesson Activity

It's the end of the year and that time has come for the never-ending tutor time or the filler lesson with Y7 or maybe even a staff quiz. Never fear, the Big Fat End of Year Quiz 2017 is here. 55 marks spread over 7 rounds covering - News, Music, Film, Sport, Song Intros, Dingbats and General Knowledge. The quiz takes about an hour at full-speed, but obviously you can cut it up or fill it out to suit your needs. The questions aim to span Y7 - Y12 age range, so there should be something everyone can have a go at. Of course, it's up to you how you deliver it. I recommend splitting students in to teams of 3-4 and marking their answers at the end of each round to build a cumulative score (I like to give a small prize at the end of each round). The spreadsheet allows for rapid results collection and adds up the scores as you go, highlighting the winner in each round. It also has the option for the "Weighted Score" - so you can give a twist at the end and teams can still have a chance, even if one round threw them. All of the questions follow a very simple format using as few words as possible and with big picture clues. You could add additional clues in to suit the age of your students. The price of the quiz reflects the time it has taken to prepare. Please be aware that the quiz is a large PowerPoint file with many pictures and sound clips. Where possible, I have tried to use the most common and accessible formats (i.e. all audio clips are .mp3 files). Enjoy! (This is a non-curriculum related resource)
