Railway Stations, Platforms, and Trains

Railway Stations, Platforms, and Trains

A collection of photos I am curating for my students for the next term as we explore Great Britain and the topic of journeys and travel, as well as the introduction of the railway across Britain in the Victorian era. My students will use these photos as part of their own projects and presentations and to explore locations in Britain and the kinds of holiday activities you might find in each place. I hope that you will find these photos useful with your own students. Please leave me a review and I will send you any other resource of your choice for free (contact me: office@oceansproject.com). Check out my other resources at my shop: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/sarah277 Let me know if you have any resource requests and I will tailor make a resource for you.

The Story of a Piece of Paper. Aeroplane activities and mark-making.

The Story of a Piece of Paper. Aeroplane activities and mark-making.

I have used these resources to teach The Story of a Piece of Paper from the Write Dance in the Early Years programme that helps children with their fine motor skills and mark-making/writing confidence. However, there are resources and ideas here that could be used when looking at the topic of travel or at the end of the summer term when discussing going on holiday. I hope it helps.

End of Term word game VEHICLES

End of Term word game VEHICLES

Students use the letters to try to guess the vehicle. Each slide reveals a little more of the picture. Students are awarded points based on how quickly they can work out what the vehicle is. Could be a good team game or whole class activity.

Vehicle Town Template for Imagination Play

Vehicle Town Template for Imagination Play

contains two pages of “town” template, as well as a page of vehicles. The town contains these items: bridge over a lake, airport, fire station, park, school, hospital, two houses, pizza restaurants, police office, police station, library, cinema, dentist office, grocery, and zoo. These places are separated by “roads.” The following page contains vehicles. These are included: mail car, pizza truck, police car, canoe, ambulance, motor boat, airplane, school bus, two cars, row boat, helicopter, truck, sail boat, hot air balloon, fire truck. I attached the vehicles to foam paper and magnets to use as vehicles on the laminated “town” template. You could also print these on photo transfer paper to use on fabric or felt. I have included the sample vehicles and template in reverse so you can do so without the letters being reversed.

The development of the racing broom information and comprehension

The development of the racing broom information and comprehension

This resource outlines the development of the broomstick as an instrument for racing. The information is taken from Kennilworthy Whisp's Quidditch Through The Ages. Pupils can see how the various models of racing broomstick have developed through the ages from the humble Oakshaft to the Twigger 90, each model has its qualities and flaws outlined for all to see. Pupils compare and contrast between the broomsticks in order to glean enough information to answer the questions relating to each text. Two texts and differentiated questions are supplied with answers provided for both. Pupils are invited to go on and invent their own racing broomstick and build on the qualities of the Nimbus or the Moontrimmer, thinking of a catchy name for their own creation. This resource will appeal to Quidditch players of all ages.
