Steamboats Wordsearch Sheet Starter Activity Keywords Cover Transport Ships

Wordsearch Puzzle sheet of keywords on the theme of ‘Steamboats’. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. KS3 Physics: Bloodhound SSC: How we counter Air Resistance (Drag) to create a 1000mph car.

KS3 Physics: Bloodhound SSC: How we counter Air Resistance (Drag) to create a 1000mph car.

a 2 min 10 video explaining the challenges drag gives us in creating a 1000mph car, and why the engines must be hugely powerful to counteract it. includes animations. The BLOODHOUND Project is not only about building a car to go 1,000mph, but it is also a perfect vehicle for education of STEM subjects. Over the life of this project we’ve been able to inspire over 2 million young people! KS3 Design: Bloodhound SSC: Additive Manufacturing ( 3D Printing) Parts for a 1000mph car.

A 2 min video explaining how Additive Manufacturing is used to create parts for our 1000mph car. We explain the economic and environmental benefits of using this rather than traditional techniques. The BLOODHOUND Project is not only about building a car to go 1,000mph, but it is also a perfect vehicle for education of STEM subjects. KS3 Chemistry, Science Skills; Bloodhound SSC Testing the Fuel Systems of a 1000mph Car.

KS3 Chemistry, Science Skills; Bloodhound SSC Testing the Fuel Systems of a 1000mph Car.

3 minute video explaining how the fuel systems of Bloodhound SSC are regulated to control the rate of combustion, considering the ‘sloshing’ of the fuel in the tank as it accelerates up to 1000mph and back… The BLOODHOUND Team are at Newquay Airport to test the Fuel Systems for the EJ200 Jet Engine - they need to simulate the G forces the jet fuel will face at 1000mph by tilting the lower chassis to an angle of 60 degrees. Find out how they got on in this episode of Cisco BLOODHOUND TV. The BLOODHOUND Project is not only about building a car to go 1,000mph, but it is also a perfect vehicle for education of STEM subjects. KS3 GCSE Science Revision: BloodhoundSSC jet car Combustion Collision Theory- How Jet Engines Work

KS3 GCSE Science Revision: BloodhoundSSC jet car Combustion Collision Theory- How Jet Engines Work

Updated 5/4/18 Validated by Andy Green OBE, World Land Speed Record Holder. This whole lesson uses the ‘real - life’ science of the Bloodhound SSC to draw links between the particle model, fire triangle, combustion, incomplete combustion and rates of reaction to describe how we use scientific knowledge to increase the speed of our car, and explain how jet engines work. Includes a bespoke video and AFL quiz, a combustion demonstration (requires candle, limewater, cobalt chloride paper) interactive gifs explaining rates of reaction, and a plenary/homework crossword with answers. ** KS3 National Curriculum Links:** The Particulate nature of matter: the properties of the different states of matter (solid, liquid and gas) in terms of the particle model, including gas pressure.   Combustion. Exothermic and endothermic chemical reactions (qualitative). ADVANCED: Rates of Reaction The Bloodhound SSC Project aims to inspire a new generation into STEM subjects by building a 1000mph jet and rocket car Land Speed Record Car. We share every new innovation we have made to promote progress in engineering. Please give us feedback and suggestions on other useful resources we could make. See our website www.bloodhoundssc.com for more videos, information on the workshops available and news on our Engineering Adventure.
