Rembrandt, quotes of the Dutch famous painter in 17th century + quotes about him, by contemporaries

Rembrandt, quotes of the Dutch famous painter in 17th century + quotes about him, by contemporaries

Rembrandt, quotes of the Dutch painter + quotes about, by contemporaries - art-resource for pupils, students, teachers We don’t have many artist-quotes of Rembrandt himself: c 12 quotes - which you will find here all in the PDF. Happily we do have a lot of quotes about Rembrandt as painter and teacher in art by his contemporaries - his former pupils, colleague-painters, citizens of Amsterdam, family, etc. You will find them here in his PDF too! Unlike most Dutch masters of the 17th century, Rembrandt’s works depict a wide range of style and subject matter. From portraits and self-portraits to landscapes, genre scenes, allegorical and historical scenes, biblical and mythological themes as well as animal studies - in his paintings, drawings and etchings. The well-known characteristic dealing with light and dark by Rembrandt became more important in his art as he grew older and more experienced. Also the amount of layers of paint he used. Selection of some quotes of Rembrandt van Rijn - as a short illustration of his attached PDF (translation by: Anne Porcelijn) ’My [dear] Sir: Let me first offer my kind regards… …[the picture] will show to [the] best advantage in His Excellency’s gallery, since there it will be [showed] in bright light.’ - quote of Rembrandt in his letter to Constantijn Huygens, Febr. 1636 ’in these two paintings [his ‘Entombment of Christ’ and the arising Christ] the greatest and most natural movement has been expressed [and rendered], which is also the main reason why they have taken so long to execute.’. - Rembrandt’s quote, in his letter to Constantijn Huygens, Febr. 1636 ’Try to put well in practice what you already know; and in so doing, you will in good time, discover the hidden things which you now inquire about. Practice what you know, and it will help to make clear what now you do not know’ - quote of Rembrandt, recorded by his former pupil Van Hoogstraten in 1671 . other useful links: biographical notes on the life of Rembrandt, Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rembrandt artist-quotes of ànd about Rembrandt, on Wikiquote: https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Rembrandt images of the painting art of Rembrandt, website Rijksmuseum: https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/nl/rijksstudio/kunstenaars/rembrandt-van-rijn . editor: Fons Heijnsbroek (= FotoDutch on Wikiquote):<br>[see: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/User:FotoDutch]

The Ultimate Revision Plan

The Ultimate Revision Plan

As teachers we find ourselves telling students to revise all the time but it’s very rare that we actually teach students how to revise. Over the last few years I have researched revision methods of a huge number of students of different ages to find the best methods and those that didn’t work so well. Using the results of my research I have produced the ultimate revision plan that maximises retention of knowledge and encourages students to keep revising even when the going gets tough. The ultimate revision plan has sessions of three different lengths for students of different ages; the youngest should follow the shortest plan and as age goes up, so should the length of the revision session. It is applicable to all subjects and all levels of study. I hope you find it as useful as my students have done. Thanks for your time, TeacherOfSci

Red Squirrel Colouring Sheet

Red Squirrel Colouring Sheet

This hand-drawn illustration of the Red Squirrel is a great way to stir interest within children for endangered animals. Colouring in is a symbolic way to give endangered species significance and worth. Children will naturally be curious to find out more, or this sheet could form part of a project to learn why this animal is declining in the wild? The Red Squirrel was once native to the United Kingdom, however the introduction of the grey squirrel led to the decline of these colonies. Efforts are being made to re-introduce the red squirrel to habitats around the United Kingdom, but the decline in numbers is a lesson in how man can affect nature. Colouring is a perfect means of relaxation, as well as a great tool for teaching colour, texture and of course, imagination.
