Poem In the Basement of the Goodwill Store by Ted Kooser and questions

Poem In the Basement of the Goodwill Store by Ted Kooser and questions

This poem is a useful one to consider when discussing the problems of old age and the inevitability of death. Students are asked to focus on the poem and to think carefully about the ideas the poet wants us to think about regarding attitudes towards the elderly and relationships between different generations. Students are asked to discuss the mood and setting of the poem in particular.

Back To School Backpacks

Back To School Backpacks

Two really fun options for your students to create a Back To School Backpack Option #1 - Use all of the templates provided and students will craft their own backpacks. Option #2 - Begin with a paper bag and use the templates provided to create a paper bag backpack. Both great options ... you decide what is best for your students. There are many options for writing activities included: - on the straps - on the front cover - a secret pocket which students complete inserts and drop into the pocket - 4 interactive templates created so you can have students tell you more about themselves, what makes them happy, what they are good at, a little about their family, a goal for the year, etc. - have used graphics for boys and for girls What you need: Paper (light cardstock would be extra special), coloring pencils, glue, paper bags (if that is the option you choose) I have included step by step directions and visuals to assist you in assembling these backpacks. Also, view the YouTube video on how to assemble these backpacks at: https://youtu.be/wRzF5eGyFME Look at the video and decide which backpack is better suited for your students - the paper bag backpack for the little ones, the regular backpack for students in the older grades. You must save this file on your computer. Then open and print on 8 1/2 x 14 (legal size) paper. Otherwise, your product will not be set up properly. Hope you love it! The completed backpack will stand about 8" tall. Use it all year long and have students complete items and drop them into their backpacks!

This resource has been designed ask general questions that are usually asked when you set up your own profile page. PSHE / Citizenship - Identity , Who am I? Self Esteem x16 Key term Words Topic Cards. Literacy. Revision Each Key word includes. Key Term Definition Synonym Example of the word in a sentence Picture or Icon 2x Exam Technique Qs’ (at least two Questions per Key term) You have two version one with Pictures and one without. (Allowing students to draw their own image to represent the key terms) These are designed to help those students who perhaps struggle with literacy to remember the key terms of the topic. Also useful for PP/ EAL / SEN Students and those with literacy needs. Exam Technique can also help your more able students in the class. How can they be used? Here are just a few examples of how I use them. - Student complete the Q's and draw in the pictures. -Hide them around the room and have students find them before introducing a new topic (Guess the topic?) - Matching up activity. Remove the words in red (Or keep them) Cut the topic cards in half and have students find the matching pairs. -Encourage students to come up with their own extra key term topic cards or extra sentence they can use to include several key terms. -Literacy support when writing essays. -Revision material before exams. - Have a set laminated and cut out at the back of the classroom in a box for Extension activities. This resource would work really well with my other 2017/2018 educational resources and Quizzes. Over 40+ in total. Why not take a look at a few....
